I was originally happy with my service - nice staff, easy pickup,dropoff.Then I was assessed a cleaning fee - for sand! I was not around sand. When photos were requested they were all on the floor (where a floor mat should be, mind you), and normal expected dirt from getting in and out of the vehicle in a driveway or parking lot (the only places that I entered the vehicle).Avis in general has started assessing erroneous fees the past year that thankfully I had proof of (false empty tank, pre-existing damage, and now a cleaning fee for normal expected use).I've been a loyal Avis customer for over 5 years, and this is the final straw. I cannot recommend this company. Somewhere there has been a directive to charge charge charge fees, whether valid or not.

Great experience. Easy in and easy out. The counter staff was kind and helpful. The car was brand new, clean, easy to find. Highly recommend.

Travelling for work and everything went smoothly with the pick up and drop off of the car. However, at the pick up counter the agent told me that all of the insurance options had been declined but that my company had already chosen the option to pre-pay for the gas. I come to find out that they lied to me about that. I spoke to our admin who made the reservation and she explained that its company policy to not pre-pay the gas. So Avis is having their agent lie to customers so they can add extra fees to the rentals.

Be careful of hidden fees from Avis. They charged me a roadside service fee even though I declined it, then said they couldn’t fix it since I already rented, then finally reverse the charge after I complained. Check your receipt carefully!

I gave this rating because the staff let me leave with 2 different license plates on the car. One was Florida, and the other was Colorado. When i called customer service 2 days later ,they were next to useless. When i turned the car back in i specifically made sure that theyknew about the license plates. But, there was no mention of it on my receipt. They also did not appear to be taking care of the issue with the plates. My rental was prepaid and yet when I turned the car back in they tried to charge me more fees.

Absolutely the worst customer service experience. We were not told we couldnt use a debit card to drop off our rental in another location. The agent was horribly condescending toward us for not having a credit card with us. I even explained that it didnt say that in my reservation documentation and her exact words were “well., I dont know what it says, but its still our policy”. We have never dripped off at a different location so we didnt know, but the treatment we had from this lady was horrible. I would never recommend the Avis at Kansas City Airport to anyone. There are too many other providers out there that have respectful agents.

Reservation Modify: JAMES, your Avis reservation #37241582US0 at Kansas City Intl Airport,MCI has been modifiedCome to find out, it was not modified and I was lied to. I experienced a hour delay picking up the car because the modification was still wrong. I was fortunate that the counter agents was able to resolve which allowed me to rent the car I had paid for in advance. Several emails was sent to have problem with dual priority numbers taken down to have only 1 priority number. The prior rentals completed on the profile removed did was not transfer over as they indicated but was removed. I am very angry and frustrated that I went through hours to change/correct and I still had issues when I got to gate to retrieve rental.If this is how they treat their longtime preferred customers, I will gladly go to another company who would appreciate me and my business

Great car. Quick checkout and checkin. However we were randomly charged $10 when we returned the vehicle (45 mins early) and given no explanation as to why.UPDATE: Avis told me they added additional coverage to my rental (after I had declined all coverages, as we have AAA). Total hidden charge they slipped in without us knowing. We’ll never rent from Avis at MCI again.

Do not rent from Avis in KC. I have traveled here 3 times in last 4 months, and every time they hit me for refuel charges despite me filling up the tank. They are very dishonest.

Ginny is absolutely incredible. Every. Single. Time.I have been flying into MCI a lot lately for work and never have to stress because I know Ginny will do an amazing job to help me out and ensure I have a great experience. She truly is incredible.

Avis didn't have a car that would suit my reservation. I was offered an all electric car, useless to a tourist who doesn't know a town; and hotel lots often don't have charging stations. I was upgraded for an extra fee, but had no choice as I needed a car. After I returned home and had my receipt, I called, and Avis' Customer Service nicely refunded the extra fee, but the annoyance at the beginning left a bad taste ...

We were told upon arrival that only electric cars were available but we were going somewhere without electric charging stations so this was not an option. I specifically chose the non electric version when I reserved the car over a month ago so was disappointed that this was not honored when we arrived. As a result we were charged more than $20 more a day for a larger vehicle and they would make no exceptions on the price. The woman at the front desk was unhelpful and unkind.

They will scam you. If I could post 0 stars I would. Rented a car for business like I always do and declined any extra services (like I always do). Got the emailed receipt and it showed an extra $130 in charges basically doubling the rental cost which I had PREPAID! Was told there was nothing they could do. Never again….cant believe they get away with this.
