Bad customer service, if you have other banks in your area I would use them instead and the manger is very rude

Very interesting a few years back an account customer was able to pay by phone for a minimal charge. Commerce Bank changed that to on-line or when you call, you are charged a 15.00 fee. The electric, gas, mortgage etc. do have a pay by phone and the fee is 2.00. On my Amalgamated Bank of Chicago making a payment with rep is $5.00. So today asked to pay my balance plus the 15.00 and the 250.00 pending balance and the rep says NO. That the 15.00 and 250.00 will come on the next statement. Is this about being efficient and taking care of everything on one call? Absolutely NOT. It is about collecting the 15.00 as many times as possible. Not customer service oriented.

Tried to set up auto pay earlier this year (April) for a car loan. I'd been writing checks for the previous couple years, so when it didn't draft in May I went ahead and wrote a check. Fast forward a few months; still writing checks and no auto-debit occurring on my account. Also, I stopped receiving paper statements/loan payment reminders more than a year ago although I never signed up to have it replaced in any way (and they certainly didn't remind me electronically). In any event, I continued to write checks for my monthly payment and only that payment posted to my account. Until today. The end of July! I was so confused. I call a CSR and her response was that it had been auto paying since April! Um No. I wrote checks that I mailed and then only one payment - the check - posted. I mentioned this to the person "assisting" me and she had no idea, it seemed, what to say. Glad I continued paying by check because obviously they have ZERO customer service and I'm sure would be mailing me ugly letters about me being delinquent if I hadn't continued to pay via paper check for their ineptitude and slow processing of a simple auto pay request!!! What in the world?! I can understand having a minimum timeframe for processing a new auto-debit request; something like 10 or 15 days. Not 3 freaking months later and then I make 2 payments in one month because I totally forgot I even requested auto pay. A full quarter of a year! To clarify, I don't know which branch or location processes this and this review is not necessarily specific for this location. Just Commerce Bank, in general.

DO NOT HAVE LOANS SERVICED BY COMMERCE. Simply, you are charged $5 everytime you make a loan payment (even online). IDK why, I saw this once and immediately changed my loan provider. Buyer beware, if this is how they treat people they are making money off of, think how they are going to screw their banking customers.Update: The $5 fee is for online, if you call them, it changes to $8.

How do I leave zero stars? Not only have incompetent tellers caused me time and money with their inability to correctly convey information and make deposits. On top of this not one of those times have they made it right. Failure to scan a deposit? Cool guess I'm f***** on that money until they correct it. They deposit the money in the wrong account, sorry have to wait until it clears that account on the next business day, then have to wait for it to be transferred to the correct account. Get told Saturday counts as a business day when it doesn't, welp f*** me I guess can't got to my doctors appointment. This isn't right and not how people should be treated. Making ends meet as a disabled vet through this bank is one of the worst decisions you can make. F*** this bank. Go anywhere else. Over a year of banking with them in downtown Kansas City and have had nothing but problems and headache. I cannot convey with words how livid I am, and it is only compounded by the fact that nothing will be done to rectify the problems the bank has caused. I've closed my savings and checking accounts here and will be closing the last account ASAP. Get f***** commerce.

Now Commerce Bank on "Social Media" wants me to call them or email them. I have no reason to call and perpetuate this scam by starting a dialogue with someone at the bank, and certainly not by email. Commerce Bank needs to figure out who created the loan and go after them if it is a real loan. I have never done business with Commerce Bank of Kansas City, MO, and will never do so. I have turned the correspondence over to the Office of the Arkansas Attorney General for a second time, citing their insistence that I call them or email them, no way!!

So I love this bank. I mean, a bank is a bank is a bank, this is not a review of Commerce Bank in general but of this location specifically. I love this place. Okay, there's no drive thru. But there is a change counter! And it is one of the most beautiful rooms I get to walk into once a week. And I have had nothing but associates who bend over backwards to help me if I have a problem. They are nice and down to earth. I've never seen this location crowded. There's ample parking in the garage attached to this location and they give you a parking voucher. Yay for this place. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because their hours are atrocious. Okay, sure, it's a downtown bank but I need to go to the bank sometimes and this location closes at 5p and isn't open on the weekends. I normally have to go on my lunch break. I actually work closer to the Plaza locations but I often have lunch downtown so it's not that big of a deal to me to drive over here. I can see how it'd be very inconvenient for others. If I had any suggestions, I'd just tell them to keep this branch open a bit longer. Us downtowners need to deposit our paychecks too!

The bottom line is: Commerce has phenomenally lousy customer service. Commerce started charging me a monthly fee without notifying me that the fee was being charged. When I called Commerce to get the issue straightened out, they blame me for not knowing that my account was switched. The customer service on the phone was terrible. If you're interested in a bank that actually (pretends) to care about you, Commerce isn't it. Stay away. Stay very far away.

The people are not very helpful, the one time they transposed my account number with someone else's and deducted that person's withdrawal from my account, they were not very apologetic about it. Plus the fees are huge.
