I'm new to town and I have been looking for a spot to get my rolls developed. A friend referred me to Steve and I was skeptical at first since I was unable to figure out the whole "Drive thru" process. I finally met Steve when I attempted to drop off some film and he is the nicest guy ever. Extremely knowledgeable about film cameras, film, the whole nine yards. After dealing with him I don't plan on dealing with anyone else. Although his wait time for developing are long the wait is worth it for the quality and careful work he and his team do!

If you're taking film photos in the Kansas City area this is THE spot to get them developed. Every time I have been there Steve and I have had the sweetest, kindest conversations and he takes absolute pride in the people that trust him with their special memories and shots on film. Turn around time can be long, but it's 100% worth it. His work is phenomenal, his client interactions are heart warming, and I will trust no one else with my film.

There’s no better place to get film developed than Express Photo. The owner is a wizard. Perhaps straight out of a Pixar movie, in the best way possible.During peak summer/fall season, turnaround times for photos can reach 1-2 months because photographers around the country know that Express Photo is the best. And we’ll all still send film and wait, because it’s 100% worth it.

Express Photo provides quality film developing in the KC area! I decided to try them out after seeing reviews online, and I can assure you that the quality if great! Steve was very knowledgeable and super friendly to talk to about film. I will say, the drive-thru/way to drop off film can be a little confusing (was deterred my first time I went because I didn't know what to do), and it is cash only fyi! Steve was also accommodating and was able to load my images onto a flash drive that I brought. Because Steve is the main person developing the film, it can take a while to get your images back. It took about 10 weeks for me to get one roll of film developed/processed, but it was definitely worth it. If you want your film processed faster, I would recommend going somewhere else. But if you are willing to wait and get some great images, I can vouch for Express Photo.

Wanted to express my immense support of the two who run this operation. I don’t think a lot of people realize how minute film photography has become, and not only is a privilege to have a two/three day photo shop in KC, but also the affordability of it considering the recent uptake in film prices due to its popularity. Both Steve and Sherri work incredibly hard to turn film around for students, amateurs, and professionals, and though may sometimes be stressed or busy, are great people who are willing to talk about your work and your process. If you can grant them some extra patience, it’s a well worth experience that’ll help you grow and learn as a photographer. Hoping this place stays open as long as it can because we need more places like this!

Really great for expired film development. I've had other places do it and always ended up with a magenta tone. Not so at express photo.

Been going here for YEARS now ( since like 2018) and i have NEVER had an issue or bad quality with express. Steve's taught me so much over the years and Sherry is such a delight to see whenever she's working the drop off/pick up window. I recommended everyone go here for their developing and scanning and shoot even to just get some info too!

Awkward drive thru access only I found out after I tried to enter through the door, no signage stating that...I came to get some slides scanned to photos but was told they "weren't even doing that now" due to workload, what kind of business does that? Don't waste your time.

Great place to have your film cared for at reasonable price. Owner is a true sage who takes the time do it right and pass on the knowledge he’s gathered over 50+ years. If you want it done quick & sloppy - this ain’t your joint. If want it done right by someone who’ll shoot you straight - you can’t go wrong.

This is the best film developer/restoration service; probably in the country. They use custom equipment combined with years of experience that will produce the best results possible. Also this is one of the few places that will return your negatives, which you will lose if using one of the major mail off companies like cvs or Walmart. They get orders from all over the world so there may be a little extra wait as compared to some other developers but the quality is well worth the wait.
