The best in the business. I was in need of having repairs done to an antique bronze figure lamp and they did an amazing job. I can't go without mentioning how kind and courteous all of the staff members are that I interacted with . I'm so glad that places like this still exist in the throw away society that we live in.

I have been a customer of Hiles for 50 plus years…they repaired my grandfathers brass bed…my aunts silver lamps and many smaller silver items in between! The latest are these lovely Spanish coach lamps…dating from the late 1700’s! They did a beautiful job! Still old, but polished and glowing, same patina…and shellacked so I will never have to polish them again! Well worth the cost of Hiles expertise! Museum quality repair! Thank you!!!

During our home renovation, wanted to reuse some of the original fixtures. He was able to plate them to match more closely with newly purchased fixtures. He was also a good source of information on getting replacement crystals for an old chandelier. Street parking in almost always available directly in front of the business. I believe he also can rewire fixtures, although I have not confirmed that.

Just picked up my order & I'm in love!! Had my grandmother's gravy ladle silver plated and it looks like it belongs in a museum. Also had a Havdaleh candle holder polished and it turned out fantastic (bought it at an Estate sale & the people thought it was a business card holder). The work was perfection. A treasure of a company.

There is plating and there is plating done right. Keep in mind plating is not a low cost endeavor. Do not plan to take in something and get it plated on the cheap. If you want quality plating work, consider taking it here.

I dropped off a silver-plated candelabra for re-plating. When I balked at the $900 estimate, the owner told me it was a very good piece and would be worth that much or more after the work. When 6 months passed and I hadn't heard from Hiles, I called. The first red flag was when the owner told me she had been trying to contact me but had lost my number, which was odd since it was written on the work order. She told me that when they began to work on my piece it completely fell apart; that it was junk. When I picked up my candelabra, it was given to me in pieces, in a cardboard box. Among other things, a large hole had been blown out of the base, and the marking on the bottom had been cut off. To make matters worse, she had decided to keep my $450 deposit because "they had done so much work on it". Unbelievable. I took it to another silversmith in St. Louis; they feel Hiles left it in the chemicals too long and damaged it beyond repair. I had to dispute the charge to my credit card in order to get my money back.

I had excellent service with Julia. She talked to me on the phone (I live in FL and Hiles is in MO), explained the process and gave me an approximate price. I shipped my two items up; they took care of them promptly and shipped them back and the price was within 10% of what she had quoted. The items look fabulous; I know that they won't last as long here in FL with our humidity and salt air but now I know where to go to have them restored if necessary. Thank you!

I used hiles to restore a coin silver mint julep. The work they did was decent. But they were supposed to photograph/document the progression of the restoration (owner told me it would be done and it was listed on the work order). Well, it was an incomplete restoration and no photos were taken. The owner denied having the conversation with me and told me that they never document restorations. Then why did you write it on the work order?????? Let alone accept the job if you couldn't deliver? They do NOT do restoration work! They will clean your crap, that's about it... I requested a letter describing the item and what was done and honestly, it should have been written in crayon. For $300, save yourself the headache and just buy a good scotch instead...
