Awesome place. If you have books to sell, take them here instead of rainy day books or half price books.

Came and brought like new books to sale that I've read once and needed to make space on my shelf. One of them being a brand new set of Hush Hush series still in packaging because I already owned the series and it was a secret Santa gift... was given 20 bucks. The store itself is beautiful though.

I was looking for books by a special author for a gift for my grandson. After checking both new and used bookstores I called and asked if Prospero's had any of the authors books and they did! I drove down that evening and they had 3 different novels set aside for me. On top was one I had hoped to find for at least three years. Needless to say I was very happy. I browsed around and selected several additional books. This is normal for a trip to Prospero's. The owners and clerks are friendly and knowledgeable about literature. It's a trek there from our home in the suburbs but always worth the trip.

If you’re looking for cool bookstore vibes this is the place! Honestly this is one of the coolest bookstores I’ve ever been to. I definitely recommend coming here even if it’s just to browse. The prices are pretty reasonable though not all the books I looked at were marked where I could find the price or read it clearly. We picked up some fun books that we are excited about. The selection was more on the antique side which is really nice but if you’re looking for newer stuff you may not find it

Really neat establishment with heaps of character. Awesome big (not little) book store with a little bit of something for everyone. Owner was positive and friendly - really looking forward to spending more time here

They have a great selection of all kinds of books, including a lot of wonderful titles off the beaten path for reasonable prices. It's also the best place to sell used books that I've found in the city-- Half Price Books doesn't come close, and that's where I've been going for years to clear out old reads. The staff is also super friendly and always happy to have a chat or give you recommendations. It's a community gathering place as well, as Prospero's hosts live music, readings, and other events.

Awesome book store. Probably best indy I've ever been in. A favorite of my college age granddaughter. She had me meet her there. Very interesting and priced reasonable.

This was a great little bookstore. They have books of all genre's and there's definitely something for everyone. The wood floor, the old building, it was a step back in time for sure. The ladder to climb up to find a book was pretty cool. I didn't know there was a 3rd story or I would have gone up and looked around. This store sits in a busy but quaint shopping area, old historic homes, close to KU Med, and a walk friendly neighborhood. Parking was easy to find right down the street.I managed to find a few books that were reasonably priced and affordable. But most of the genre I was looking at that day were way over priced. I'll be back looking for bargains and affordability. If you're looking for an out of the way bookstore to find something unique I'd definitely recommend them.

This is a super cool bookstore in what looks to be an old house! They have a rolling ladder and some really neat creaky old steps to get to the attic/top floor!

This bookstore is SO COOL !!! Parking was a bit of a headache, but once we got in I was blown away !! There is so much character to this little bookstore, it has three floors covered in books, and all different vibes. Top floor even has a psychic, which is super quirky and cool~ the bottom floor is where it's at though, there are lots of wooden bookshelves COVERED in writing and notes and messages! It was so charming to see so many memories that were made though (and kind of hilarious some of the.. derogatory messages left too hahaha maybe don't let your kids read too close). I really love the writing about Linns lunch spot Such a lovely place, I wish I lived closer by so I could regularly visit and take in more of the character

Fun used book store. So many books. A bit on the spendy side for used books, but still a neat place to visit.

Prospero’s is great! It has a chill atmosphere, and the guy that runs it is super nice. There’s always new stuff on the shelves, and it’s a perfect spot to grab something new to read. There’s lots of cozy seating too!The fun architecture and decorations also make it a KC must-see ?

This was my 2nd visit to this store. I love the vibe here, which includes a part-time psychic. Interesting inventory, and I found a book on my topic of interest. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because there were 2 people behind the counter who were very interested in talking to each other, but never offered to help incoming customers. When I went to ask for a specific book, they were unable to say if they had it, and didn't offer any guidance beyond "If we have it, it will be on those shelves filed alphabetically by author ", and pointed in the general direction. Still, a fun shop for book-lovers.

My family and I love used bookstores. This one was on our list to check out, so we were willing to make a long drive. We drove over an hour tonight (Friday) to get to this bookstore. Website says they close at 10:00pm.. we arrived at 8:00pm, 2 hours before closing time, thinking that would give us plenty of time to look around. As we were walking up they were shutting off the lights and closing up shop, we couldn’t get in. Knocked and called trying to get an explanation, to no avail. Trip was wasted. Went back and checked their website and social media, thinking we must’ve missed something, but there wasn’t one place where they announced they were closing early tonight. Extremely frustrating. Wont be wasting the gas again.
