Great fields, pretty much the epicenter of softball in St. Louis. Only problem is how bad and how often fields flood.

My kids have been playing select softball for four years now and so we have become very familiar with this softball field complex. Another softball dad told me that the old astroturf from the old Busch Stadium was once used here when they were baseball fields so there's a lot of history here. I think that's what they have going here-nostalgia. Here's the breakdown:

The place is run down and a hazard. Even after “clean up” from flooding it is a dangerous place to play ball. Find some investors and clean the place up before everyone takes their business elsewhere for good

I think the complex and the local cops have a little business going on parking and tickets. Several friends got tickets for parking where there were no signs saying that they couldn't. Smells fishy.

Inexperienced umps. Poorly defined rules that change game to game. Fields that flood on a regular basis. Inconvenient parking. Overpriced concessions. Don't sign your kid up to play here. Fields are unplayable most of the time. Even the slightest rain cancels games. And when that happens you'll actually be happy because you don't have to deal with the dearth of parking, walking miles to your field, 3/4 full beers from concessions and getting talked down to by untrained umpires who don't know what they are doing. Not worth it.

We've been to several athletic associations in the area and Kirkwood is one of the best.
