I came in from out of town and needed a place to lap swim. The staff was very welcoming and found a time slot where I could work out for a couple of days. I very much appreciate the service that was provided.

Wild that the Kirkwood Y is the worst YMCA in the region, but it is by far. Wayyy out of date facilities and equipments. Classes don’t start on time, rooms are locked when scheduled to be open. At 5am a staff person made me update all my info and picture because the app doesn’t scan my ID anymore. Every other Y locations just takes my name or phone number… rough. Looks like lots of reviews with customer service issues as well.Hopefully someday Gateway YMCA’s invests in this location and it becomes the resource for the whole community that it should be.

The Wednesday deep water class instructor is AH-mazing. Not only does she lead an excellent workout, she’s knowledgeable about how to modify movements based on ability (secondary to conditions such as mobility restrictions and pain). She always shows up with a positive attitude, great sense of humor, and enviable energy. Of all the aqua fitness instructors I’ve taken classes with, she’s definitely a favorite!!

Waste of time. I asked with kids in my car being loud if they have open pool. We, myself and 2 kids 5,9 get there they see us come in with towels and swimsuits. They say nothing. Their showers are freezing cold and never warm up turned all the way to hot for minutes. Then we got to the pool door it was locked. A life guard opened the door and said it was not open pool time just lanes. NOT what was said even for an adult let alone a non kid time. I went and spoke with the lady I spoke with on the phone and she BLAMED me for not asking if kids could come (pretty sure but what ever) it wasn’t even open for me technically. Waste of time and bad service. There are plenty of other Ys go there instead.

Wonderful facilities but so understaffed the pool lifeguard kicked me out so he could get his break.

The kirkwood ymca needs more than a face-lift. Both facility and staff need work for a good customer experience. Worked here in high-school almost 30 years ago, looks the same and it was old and tired then. Poorly laid out makes for poor navigation and parking, this has always been a problem. Had 4 separate experiences that were not welcoming by staff for my kids camp. You gotta do better.

I called the front desk seeking information about a trainer. I missed the woman’s name whom I spoken too, but I called on Tuesday at 9:20am on 3/14. She was horrible to me right off the jump being so rude. I asked her a question and she literally shouted “oh my god” in annoyance among with other things through out the call. She also continued to use a demeaning tone with me. The conversation was not more then 5 minute long. She was passing my number for a Frank to call me for more information, but I don’t think she ever passed along the message because I never received a call from him. I have never felt so disrespected at a Y before. So disappointing, as Kirkwood has such a great community at the Y.I hope this reaches someone because I wouldn’t want another person to pass up going to this facility due to the ignorance from the front desk.

There are many reasons I keep coming back. It’s clean and organized and not crowded. The workouts are challenging and you will see results.

I go to the kirkwood branch as it’s close to home. It’s not the largest branch but staff members are always friendly and helpful and the childcare is great (they know my kiddos by name) so I prefer this location over others even though other locations have more equipment. They also have group classes that always go on schedule, I love body pump and spinning! I’ve had my membership 3-4 years and don’t plan on ever changing it. The y is family friendly and I prefer it over chain gyms and believe me I tried them all!

I joined in August and have been coming to water workouts at least twice a week. Everyone is very friendly. The locker room and showers are always clean.

I completed a survey in December and requested feedback but did not receive any reply. I would give the Y high marks except for their Covid policy. Why is this?
