Edit: changing my previous 4 star review to 1 star. The women at the front desk are absolutely terrible. I came in with my cat, none of them acknowledged me, and when one finally asked me how they could help (in the most apathetic way possible, mind you), they cut me off as I was explaining what was wrong to ask if I had been here before. They took my phone number, walked me to a room, and said someone would be in to take vitals.Over an hour later, I was still waiting without a single update. No one ever came in to do vitals. I overheard other frustrated customers who had also been waiting for hours with no updates or communication, and I made the decision then to leave. I went to Veterinary Emergency Group in Brentwood, which is MUCH better. Night and day. I walked into that clinic and immediately several nurses and the doctor herself IMMEDIATELY attended to my cat. I hope this update can be helpful to someone that might be reading this and considering taking their pet to VSS. Don't do it. These people don't care about you OR your pet.

If I could give them less I would. I brought my dog in for emergency services. I paid 2000 at the time. Fast forward I called and asked what the final balance would be. They could not give me anything but a ballpark figure. They finally told me 864.00. They said I could come and get him so no more charges would be incurred. When I arrive they tell me the balance is now 1200. They want to put a collection hold on my account for 1200. Now as I am typing this they want to send my account to collections tomorrow. These people are horrible. They add on charges as you go along. Stay away from them

My dog of 10years made a turn for the worse and needed help. Calling around to find someone to see him that was affordable late at night posed a challenge. Found VSS while searching. It wasn't the best to met under these circumstances but the staff was polite the vet that saw my son's dog explained everything to him even explaining to him what they felt was wrong and how there was nothing else to do but put him to rest. Giving my son all the time he needed to to say goodbye. I camt thank you enough for everything and would recommend them to everyone I know.

If you want to wait 3hrs with no mention of the wait, only for them to put you in the room then tell you it could be longer; come here. I left went to a different vet and they got me in immediately.

We had to put our sweet 19 year old cat down this morning and the doctor and staff were very kind. I was able to hold him while he passed and the experience was as peaceful and private as possible. Thank you for taking care of our baby in his final moments.

My cats and I moved back to STL a few weeks ago and my big sweetie Johnny ended up sick and without a local vet. We had a trip to Webster Animal Hospital last night then VSS today. Both were wonderful. The staff and doctors at VSS truly took care of Johnny and kept his comfort, health and my bank account in mind. The communication was thorough and I couldn’t be happier with the entire process.

VSS has seen 3 of our cats over the years, and each time they have been SO wonderful. Each vet we’ve seen has been exceptionally kind, caring, and warm —they’ve been so knowledgeable and we always know they want the best for our babies. They make handling stressful and upsetting situations MUCH more comfortable. We love VSS!

Wouldn’t recommend anyone to take there animals here absolutely worst place to go. took my puppy there and after spending almost 600 dollars for X-rays and medication they recommended, I take him other place because they don’t know what the problem is…….

Overall not impressed. The front desk staff was very rude. Wouldn’t even let me say goodbye to my dog after I asked several times. The first vet we dealt with was amazing (nice, attentive and I’d give her 5 stars), but the second one not so much. Also ALOT of mixed messages about my dog who ultimately passed. Will not be bringing animals here in the future.

My cat had a pretty serious accident, and I brought her to VSS. As soon as we arrived, they took her to the back and put me in a room. A doctor and vet student came in shortly after and told me that they performed an ultrasound to check for injuries, but told me they could see more with an x-ray. They came back a short while later with the x-ray results and recommended overnight stay. They immediately provided me with a low-end/high-end estimate and explained everything in great detail.Our cat ended up spending 3 nights there. We were updated every morning and evening with the progress. When I was able to bring her home, I called a couple of times in the middle of the night and brought her back in due to symptoms that were on the "watch out for" list. Each time I called, the receptionist checked with the vet tech and gave me answers. When I brought her in for a second time, we were immediately seen and sent home with medicine.I would 100% recommend VSS for anyone with emergency pet needs. They were so thorough, communicative, and never once made me feel like I was a bother for calling with follow-up questions. Our cat is back home, and while she's still recovering, she's doing amazingly well considering the injury, and we have VSS to thank for that.

Rating: 0Review:My husband and I recently brought our 14-week-old ragdoll kitten to VSS based on a referral from our main veterinarian's office. Unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory.Firstly, we were deeply upset when we had to leave our kitten overnight due to her deteriorating health. While we understood it was for her best interest, the lack of comfort and communication from the staff made us uneasy.The next morning, when I called to inquire about the invoice, I was met with rudeness and initially told there was no record of our kitten's bill. It turned out that it was sent to the wrong email address, causing unnecessary confusion and frustration.Furthermore, the lack of communication regarding our kitten's health was concerning. We were told that we would only receive one phone call a day to check on her, and when we asked for a diagnosis, it was never provided. This left us feeling skeptical and worried about the quality of care she was receiving.Ultimately, we decided to seek a second opinion from another veterinarian. To our dismay, they diagnosed our kitten with severe intestinal parasites and bowel swelling, conditions that VSS failed to identify. It was disheartening to realize that we had paid a significant amount of money for subpar care.Additionally, the technicians at VSS displayed a lack of empathy and sympathy towards us as pet owners. Their behavior during such a difficult and near-death experience with our new baby was disappointing.In conclusion, our experience at VSS was highly unsatisfactory. We hope that they take steps to improve their communication, empathy, and overall quality of care. We will not be returning and cannot recommend VSS based on our experience.

Went in tonight for an issue with our pup- he is all good now! They were kind, fast, understanding, and truly amazing! This is our second time with this here and we will continue to make recommendations!

While we were traveling through St Louis on a cross country trip, our 3yr old Saint Bernard started to bloat. This was a very life threatening situation and this place took such amazing care of him. They did surgery immediately and saved his life. They kept me updated throughout the entire process. They were helpful, supportive, very knowledgeable as well as reasonably priced. I'm very thankful for everything they did! My pup is now home with us recovering! ♥️
