We ordered a toaster because we didn't want to buy one from a big box store, then we came back to have hedge clippers sharpened. They did such a great job that we came back with clippers. Next will be the secateurs.

I can’t believe I have to post something like this but I just left Scheidt’s on Monday January 20 at precisely 6:00 pm (their closing time) I was looking for 3 different items, and the y only had 1 of what I was looking for. But that notwithstanding it’s what happened immediately after I walked out, I was still in the foyer when I noticed a young lady and her little girl (daughter) running across the street for the front door. As I turned to make sure they made it across as Manchester is quite busy, the (this is the only way I can identify the two guys) the white guy reached up and pulled the “open” sign off, and they were standing at the door. I yelled over and said “knock on the door, they’re standing right there, I just walked out, they’re decent guys they should open up for you for a minute.” They knocked and the black guy actually waved them away and turned the closed sign around, locked the door in their face and walked away. I asked them what they needed, and she said just a little combination lock for her daughter’s locker at school. I told them I thought Schnucks had them and they walked across the parking lot. Now I try to patronize every local business I can, and have lived in and around Maplewood since 1968 ( yes, a long time 55 years and spent many a dollars there.)
But I will NEVER walk through those doors again after witnessing that attitude! I know they are somewhat new owners, but good luck staying in business if you treat customers that way!

Man at the counter was very rude when I asked where the drop cloths were. They’re labeled in aisle 8 and he condescendingly said did you look because they’re on the wall in aisle six. Instead of sitting behind the counter all day maybe you could actually help your guests find what they’re looking for and relabel the aisles instead of of talking down on someone.

Worst service EVER!! Called ahead and was told they cut keys and when I arrived they didn't want to cut a key..local business owner one block away and have spent thousands of dollars here and the black guy at the front is super rude every time ...not anymore!! Taking all of my business to another location. Would give a zero if I could

Such wonderful history of the building, shared with me by the owner!So well organized, neat and clean. Great ideas from the owner, who actually made time to help with my curtain rod problem!Certainly not a big box store, but a trip back to when a customer was treated as a guest, not as another$$ sign

Great small hardware store with lots of great finds. And they have the cheapest bird seed you'll likely find in town. They are always very helpful and ready to answer any questions too. Great local place, and much better than the big box stores.

I absolutely love this small town feel the lovely man at the front counter was so nice everything is clean and well labeled and very nicely priced. Will definitely be back.
