About Annie and Abel Van Meter State Park
Annie and Abel Van Meter State Park is a beautiful and well-maintained destination ideal for camping and outdoor activities. Families enjoy the early Halloween event featuring a haunted hike, campsite decorating contest, and arts and crafts. The park offers spacious campsites, suitable for both tents and RVs, with flat grounds and friendly hosts. Visitors appreciate the clean, heated bathrooms and nice hot water showers, although the number of toilets can be limited for the number of campsites. The park includes a small playground that is great for kids and several lovely picnic areas, some of which are covered. Dog owners can bring their pets but should keep them leashed around many people. Nature lovers will enjoy the sights and sounds of squirrels, birds, and occasional coyotes. While mosquitoes can be a nuisance, the overall experience is enjoyable, making this park a popular choice for camping and outdoor fun.
The park is so nice the host is wonderful they checked on everyone. It was the most quiet and beautiful park i ever gone to . I only wished they had a dump station. The Indian museum was very cool.

I took my grandkids to Van Meter today. What a beautiful park! It was very clean and well maintained. When visiting the information center, the park ranger took the time to share hands on articles found in nature. This park is a hidden gem and is a must see! We will visit again.
