About Smithfield's Farmland Foods
Smithfield's Farmland Foods is a meat packing plant. Check in starts at 0500 and is first come, first served. The yard is very tight, with trailers sometimes triple stacked in dock doors. The office staff is very nice, though the gate guards can be hit or miss and are sometimes not very friendly. Yard jockeys can get in the way while trying to clear space. Wait times can be very long, with reports of waiting over 5 hours from check in until receiving a door. On weekends, only preloads are done, which can be disappointing. The company will often send drivers to wait at the local BP gas station, which has good food and friendly service. The facility has on-site scales for empty and loaded weights. Loading itself is typically quick, often taking less than an hour. However, the building has no lights after dark, making it difficult to see. While some visits are pretty good with quick loading, others involve long delays. The company does not have its own parking lot for truckers.

Yeah, wait time was long. Waited over 5 hours from check in til I got the call to go to a door. My main issue is they have NO lights on their building after dark. Its impossible to see where youre pulling into.
