“Hidden Gem in New Melle – Way More Than Just Smoked Meats! I always figured it was just a small spot for smoked meats and maybe a quick lunch counter. Boy, was I wrong!I went in originally looking for soup bones and ended up discovering a whole lot more. Turns out Dan's Country Meats is right behind it and is actually part of the same operation—All the steaks, pork, and other cuts you see in the Bavarian Haus come straight from Dan's, and it's clear they know what they're doing. I got these huge meaty oxtails -aren’t they gorgous? I've also grabbed their ham hocks (OMG one hock is all you need plenty of meat for beans) smoked pork chops, and brats, and everything is excessively meaty, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor. The steaks are phenomenal—great marbling, well-packaged, and priced very fairly. One surprise bonus: the last time I was there late afternoon (near dinner time), they had a 4-piece fried chicken platter ready to go. I had no idea they offered hot meals like that close to dinner time. It's like a full little German-style deli and butcher shop rolled into one.If you're anywhere near New Melle, do yourself a favor and go check it out. It's a true hidden gem with high-quality meats, great value, and friendly vibes. I wish I'd stopped in sooner!”

“Always had good luck with the meats however today I brought home artichoke spinach stuffed mushrooms. They were not cleaned before stuffed. It was
Pretty gross trying to get the dirt off them with the stuffing already in them. Dirt in the bottom of the pan, all over the mushrooms and then all over my hands. Not appetizing. Hopefully whomever “forgot” to clean them won’t forget again. Gross!”

“Service was terrific, customer service was very professional, product was delivered on time.
We had 1/2 beef processed, my only recommendation for improvement would be to vacuum pack the burger, even if additional costs are involved I would like to see that as an option.”
