Do not trust or go to Firestone, who broke our TPMS system
We brought our Toyota Camry in to get two new tires. The tire pressure monitor on all four tires worked, and the dash indicated each tires pressure (TPMS) when we dropped off the car. After paying $547 for the two tires, when we got the car back none of the four pressure monitors on the dash worked (all blank). Firestone said it would cost $240 to fix the TPMS system. When I called them back, they refused to admit that they could have broken it, and said we declined fixing it (for the $240).
FYI. I Chat GPT reviewed the issue and managers response (that it is our fault, not theirs.) ChatGPT response was: “yes, it’s absolutely possible they caused the issue — and it’s also a known, fairly common problem after tire service, not something mysterious or rare.” They gave a long description of what Firestone technicians likely did (accidentally), very common, and concluded: “Bottom line: you’re not being unreasonable — this is a classic post–tire install issue, and they should make it right.”
