The Holiday Inn Poplar Bluff is a decent hotel for the small town. The rooms are generally clean with comfortable beds, large TVs, and provide a good night's sleep. Amenities include a nice pool, an exercise room, and plenty of parking. An on-site restaurant, Castello's, is a highlight, offering excellent food and cold beer, with a fabulous complimentary breakfast buffet or made-to-order menu items; the restaurant staff are consistently noted as excellent and accommodating. Guest experiences with the hotel staff vary. Many find them friendly, helpful, and awesome, while others have encountered crabby front desk personnel and frustrating check-in processes, sometimes with an unmanned reception area. Some maintenance issues are noted, such as shower fixtures needing upgrading. While the free breakfast is good, housekeeping services can be inconsistent, with infrequent cleaning leading to some concerns about the hotel becoming rundown. Some guests also feel the prices are outrageous, especially for longer stays. Despite some frustrations, many guests recommend the hotel and would stay again.
I have attended and hosted events at the Holiday Inn Ballroom. I have always been impressed with the staff; Candice is especially helpful and quick to and any questions I may have.
