They can be a bit pricier than alot of other country Vets, but I have been taking my dogs to Dr Johnathan for 20 years. He's always been good to me and has never failed my Dogs when we needed him.

The staff here is wonderful! Even when my cat was grumpy and hissing at everyone, they were kind and took their time.

So impressed with Dr. Renfro! I first took my dog to Blue Pearl but Dr. Renfro was amazing! Below is my review of Blue Pearl AND the amazing job Dr. Renfro did! Highly recommend Renfro Veterinary Services! The front end staff (Blue Pearl) was very attentive and caring and was impressed by the reception and techs! I was, however, VERY concerned by the recommendations from the vet when she saw my dog for less than 10 minutes due to seizures, did NO DIAGNOSTIC TESTING (other than listen to his heart and watched videos I showed her) and was ready to put him on life changing medication that he would have had to be on for the rest of his life!I brought my dog in because he had started having mild seizures around 3 pm and was unable to get him in to my regular vet or 6 other vets I had called on a Friday afternoon so it was recommended I bring him into Blue Pearl. I arrived shortly after they opened, around 6:30 pm. The receptionist and tech (and the vet) were very kind. We waited for around an hour, which was less than i expected actually! My concerns started after I got back in the patient room.I showed the young vet several videos of the seizures my dog was having. She then listened to his heart and stated his heart rate was rather fast and in less than 10 minutes without doing any further testing (no labs, NOTHING what the heck!) said they wanted to keep my dog overnight, give him a high dose of phenobarbital ( which by the way, once they start, they can’t EVER be taken off of it so it was a lifetime, forever change to my dog, who is only 5 and this was his FIRST TIME EVER having seizures!!!!) tat a cost of $1000. Mind you, my dog is totally worth that, had I felt he truly had a thorough exam and prognosis.I elected to take him home. My gut feeling was that the exam was not even close to thorough to make such a life changing decision after less than 10 minutes. He didn’t have a great day Saturday but by Sunday, was showing improvement. (I forgot to mention I had a vet appointment scheduled for him on Monday).I took him into Renfro Veterinary Services Monday, did the same things I did at Blue Pearl and the vet immediately ran labs. They asked if he had received any flea/tick meds, been around insect killer etc. His sodium levels were a bit high and I found out that can cause the brain to swell and cause seizures. They ASKED QUESTIONS to come to a diagnostic impression and ran tests! Dr. Renfro immediately went to options that were out of the ordinary for my dog since he had NEVER had seizure before, not immediately to putting him on a life changing medication for life without even running labs!I brought him in again the next day for labs and everything was back to normal and so was he!!!!He got into something toxic and had a reaction. He had never had seizures before. I thank God I listened to my gut and NOT the vet, which I believe was derelict in her duties by not doing any lab work and trying to put a dog on a lifelong medication of phenobarbital, after having his first seizure and not considering any contributing factors that could have caused his seizures.Blue Pearl was a waste of $200 but more importantly, being scared to death my dog could die if I didn’t leave him to have an overnight stay to be loaded with meds he didn’t need! All I can say is if it doesn’t feel right, go with your gut. I am SOOOOO glad I did and chose to follow up with Dr. Renfro!

Don’t go here if you have an emergency, and don’t always trust their diagnoses. We’ve tried getting their help with 4 different pets. The first pet we brought in, they said had arthritis in the hip and gave exercises. We later found out it was bone cancer that they completely missed on the X-ray they took. The second was my ESA who got into insecticides and was having muscle spasms/seizures, they said they didn’t have time for new patients and to drive an hour to the ER vet. The other two were both bit by poisonous snakes and again, we were told they didn’t have time for new patients. If they truly cared about animals, they’d make the time and would pay better attention to what they’re looking at. They’re an embarrassment to the community of veterinarians.
