Denied my claim based on my landlord’s inspection. The landlord has told both them and me, on record, that they did no inspection — they just threw a new ceiling on and have no idea what caused it. I’ve repeatedly asked them to reopen my claim and conduct their own investigation, but I’ve either been ignored or told no.
If you’re considering them or currently have them, you should know that just because you’re covered and it’s within your policy doesn’t mean you can expect them to actually honor it. I think their adjuster, Leota, put it best: “Even if we appeal it, we’ll find another reason to deny it.”
10/10.

Sorry Excuse for an insurance company! Never in my life made a claim! I had a old water leak destroy my laundry room and bath simply inquired for help to see if it made more sense to file and take a percentage or cover personally which is what I did 100% out of pocket. Now that American national no longer offers home owners in Sc I go to get another policy and I find out they filed it as a claim or some fancy word insurance used and now I have a battle to get it removed. I paid for 10 year no claim, just to deal with aggregation! I would give them 0 Stars not to mention I have called several times and what do you know you can never get through or to the correct person!

The worst: slow and non-responsive, providing incorrect information. There was unsolicited legal advice from non-attorney employees and unsolicited, incorrect advice on tax liabilities. They refused to hold the disbursement for any amount of time (requested for 1 month) and threatened to return the disbursement to the state. I could go on. Policy 01846850

I received a non renewal letter 4 days before I was to be cancelled. The nonrenewal reason was for a stolen vehicle I claim almost 2 years prior. It was the one and only time I filed a claim using them as my insurance in the 4 or so years they'd insured me. I tried to get a hold of my agent and they said it didn't sound right and that didn't seem like a reason to do a nonrenewal, and they would get back to me. They never did. I called back multiple times over the next week and they never answered. What's the point of having insurance if you have to use it they get mad and cancel you for it?? Literally their job? Thanks. And because of the short time I had to find new insurance I have a gap now? And it's gonna cost more to insure me.. great. Thanks again. I've paid for car insurance for more then 25 years and have only had that one claim. Love it.

Worked with Kevin Moser for two weeks on farm and bed and breakfast insurance. Total came to $4000. Immediately I just needed general liability in order to attend farmers markets. Received a competitive quote of $79/month, filled out and signed all paperwork, then he came back and said the price had actually doubled and I needed to fill out the paperwork again. I inquired why, took him 5 days to respond, 3 days away from the first farmers market, and he said he made a mistake. This after repeatedly letting him know I only needed general liability to attend farmers markets at the moment. How do you mess this up. Lost this future $4k a year client in the least risky small business venture, mushroom farming. Do not recommend.

American National, especially Kyle Parkhurst, is the worst experience you'll ever have. Kyle Parkhurst delivers the worst service. He doesn't respond and while he may sound professional on the phone, his lack of professionalism in his actions will have you wondering why he's even chosen this profession. If you work with Kyle, my advice would be to make sure you follow up with EVERY action he takes to make sure he did it. Because he tends to fail at taking action so you'll want documentable confirmation that he did what he says he'll do. American National is a failing company that only cares about the bottom line. Customer service is not a priority for them.

I can honestly say I'm disappointed that I have to write this. My wife and I have been with ANPAC for 25 years. Auto, home and life policies. Never missed a payment. We had 1 claim on our house (leaky toilet that manifested 15 days after we too possession of the house) and the ensuing water damage. We had a small house fire in 2022 (still not back in our home yet...). We have been through 3 adjusters in the time since our claim was filed. Katie B. is the ONLY one that has been helpful through the process and actually put the screws to our construction contractor to get things done and help us get back to our home faster than was anticipated. The biggest surprise came in the mail today, a 30 day notice of them dropping our homeowners policy. Not a word from our agent or anyone at ANPAC, just a letter. Our premiums have been driven up on auto and home over the last few years, but we remained loyal and never missed a payment. This is our reward for that loyalty, when we finally needed something from them (the entire reason premiums are paid). I would recommend Nationwide or Farmer's over this pitiful excuse for an insurance company. The aforementioned have been far more helpful thus far...( yes, I realize that they are trying to gain my business). While ANPAC has not cancelled our auto policy, we will surely be transferring ALL of our business elsewhere.
