I’m in tech and believe it can do a lot of good and I’m a proponent of useful AI and automation. But there has to be a balance between people and technology.
I went to Home Depot for a specific item. Found it myself, but it was locked behind a cabinet. Scanned a code, someone came to unlock it—quick and efficient. Then I went to check out… no human interaction, just self-checkout. In the machine told me thank you for shopping at Home Depot and have a great day… I almost instinctively responded you too, then I told myself that would be dumb😂.
I sort of felt like I was in the movie Wall-E🤖😂
Made me wonder: if this is the future of physical stores, what’s the point? Why not just order from Amazon or the website?

We had purchased tile for our bathroom remodel. Some tile was unavailable in store so we ordered online. Once our project was complete they refuse to refund a partial box of tile even though they sell them per piece in store. We purchased a box of 10 and have 9 remaining, they refuse to refund the 9 due to the fact that the box is missing one piece of tile. I can go down the aisle and purchase individual pieces but they refuse to refund me because I bought the entire box at once. This is the dumbest answer I have ever heard. They should make this known and I would have scanned every individual piece so that I could return the remaining. I have called customer service and they will not help. Home depot has lost a customer in me and I would warn you to think twice and read all rules before making any purchases through them.

They deleted my account with them and wouldn’t easily assist me and wanted me to go find someone else before checking out. Going to Lowe’s from now on.

I ordered a 25 ft roll of 1 inch by half inch welded wire 16 gauge. Had it shipped to store for pickup was excited to get it but once I got home and got it opened up it had been damaged wire had been bent broken and dented rolled it out to see how much of it had been damaged and more than 10 ft of that roll had strands of wires broken off snapped off dented and ripped from excessive tossing and handling during shipment. Now I have to return it and reorder it to hope that it does not happen a second time so now instead of my order being early it will be much much later than expected. Very unhappy with this but I guess it can't be helped sometimes staff were very nice and helpful so that's a plus.

I do enjoy their variety, they have things Lowes does not, and vice versa. I hired them for a flooring estimate. Other than a laser measuring device and some software on an ipad, I felt the personnel were VERY underqualified. They missed so many things my home needed for a quality install (various levels of flooring, demo, tearout, etc) Generally the store help is 50/50.
I did the work myself and saved $3000, and I'm sure I did a better job paying attention to details. (FYI Lowes estimate people didn't show up...)

I usually love HD and am there for work stuff constantly. If I can avoid this one I will. They were doing a raffle. I asked the guy if it was HD or a third party and he said HD. I asked if my info was staying with HD or if it was for a third party. I have been getting 5+ spam calls a day since signing up. I was down to maybe 2 a month. I answered one and they said it was a water quality company that ran the raffle to get referrals.

The 2 people working at customer service at 6am a man and a woman are beyond rude and hateful. I now remember why I shop elsewhere. Totally less than professional.

I can't even begin to tell you how terrible our experience with this store has been. We ordered flooring in August. They didn't finish the project until December. I should also say the project isn't finished. We just said we would finish it because we were tired of dealing with people that didn't call back and didn't honor their commitments. They ordered the flooring multiple times wrong. They were never available and took weeks to return a phone call. I usually don't call people out but Frank, in flooring, and Ryan, one of the managers shouldn't have a job still. Incredibly unprofessional. We have had to go back to the store three times to return the products that they ordered that were wrong. It is 800 dollars worth of stuff. After three times, they still have not refunded the money and we were told we would get a call two days ago about it and we still haven't. If anyone is reading this that has had similar issues, please reach out. I can't imagine that we are the only ones that have had this experience. If you have, I would like to hear from you. No one should be treated this way.

Horrible experience with flooring, DO NOT GO THROUGH THEM. The first time they completely ordered the wrong materials and wasted our time. The second time some of the materials came in broken and more needed to be ordered. On top of this, we had go to through two measures. The first time they sent the installation team out, the guy said he was "too old" and unable to move the fridge despite the fact we paid for appliances to be moved. The man they sent out also complained to me how horrible of a flooring service Home Depot provided. The second time they sent someone, it was their first week on the job, he also said he didn't know how to remove the fridge, and said the job would take him 3 days. After realizing we would never get it installed, we asked for a refund, which took 3 weeks and 3 different trips to process. The lady at customer service then gave a half refund because "she only counted 5 pallets" despite the fact we had returned 14 pallets, and all the transitions & quarter rounds we were sent. After all of the hassle, they still refused to refund us $88 because there was a "restocking fee" that they couldn't get past, even though they did it the first time without any issue. So we lost money because their installers couldn't install the product, and we had no control over it. Horrible customer service and experience.

I should not need to literally bend my card once it's in the card reader in order for my payment to be processed (as I was told my an attendant). Get better card readers.
