Had an amazing experience, purchased my car at a fair price and left feeling really cared for, respected, and confident that when it's time to buy another car, this is where I'm going back.
Darrell was kind and respectful, laid back and knowledgeable. What a great experience.
The lot was clean, their cars are spotless, and the salesmen were so respectful.

I just bought my 4th car from May Motors. . The 1st car that I bought from them was in 2007. Now whenever I need a car I go directly to Mike May, he finds me what I’m looking for and many times the perfect ride has been sitting in his lot. Everyone is so friendly and kind so if I ever have any questions they are there to help throughout the entire time that I’ve owned each one of my cars. Thank You May Motors

May Motors is the premier destination for finding a used car in the Springfield area. I've bought two vehicles from Mike May. Both cars needed no major repairs for years after purchase. May's is a place I can trust.
Imagine my joy when trying to help my niece find a clean used car within her budget, turning into May Motors finding the perfect car for her. They got the car inspected, filled the tank with gas, and gave her a temporary license. She is over the moon. No more Uber to work and home. Bonis points for letting me off the hook for grocery and laundry days. She is independent again, and so am I.

Very personable and easy to work with people. Not in your face pushing random unnecessary stuff. Very unique for a car dealer.

I’ve purchased several cars here and cannot recommend enough! They have always gone above and beyond to ensure that the cars were in excellent shape.
The Mays provide the personal experience that I want when making an important purchase!!

May motor Co is five star all the way. I was in and out with my new f-150 in less than a hour. No pressure sales, just pick what you want and do the paper work,

Great experience, beginning to end. I had no idea that mom and pop car businesses like this still existed until I visited May Motor Company. I traded my Prius for a 2013 Ford F150 and I would gladly purchase a vehicle here again.
Some things that stood out on the day of the sale: I wasn’t attacked by pushy salespeople upon entering the lot. I got to look around for myself quite a bit before going inside and asking to take a test drive. Dave greeted me and my partner at the door with a friendly and upbeat attitude. He let us test drive the truck without insisting on riding along. When we returned to the office, he had the Carfax printed and ready to go and was willing to tell us honestly what he did and did not know about the vehicle. When we decided to buy, there was very little back and forth. I was offered a fair price for my Prius. Paperwork was drawn up and signed same day so that I could drive it off the lot. And once my check cleared the bank a few days later, I walked away with title in hand. Easy peasy.
In the days since purchasing the vehicle, I have come to really appreciate May Motor Company’s willingness to follow up with me and offer to connect me with businesses that can help service my new vehicle. I discovered my truck had a crackling speaker, and even though I bought it as-is, they still offered to help connect me with their audio guy to take a look.
Some other great things about May Motor Company: They keep their inventory updated on their website. They have a good selection of trucks priced fairly and affordably. They get good deals on vehicles that have been auctioned or repo’d and pass that savings on the customer. They have connections with other businesses that can do an inspection quickly to get you temp tags before you leave the lot. Even though they didn’t have to, they took the time to put brand new tires on the truck and to replace a missing wheel cap before putting it out for sale.
I also appreciate that, as members of the LGBTQIA+ community, we were never treated any differently from other customers. Everyone was kind and enthusiastic and easy to talk to. We never once felt rushed to leave even though it was getting late on a Friday.
Overall, this is the first and only time I have purchased a vehicle without having to feel defensive and hyper vigilant the entire time. I got to relax and feel comfortable in the office while we worked out a deal. Shout out to the cute puppy Maybelline who kept us company while we did paperwork. I would recommend May Motor Company without hesitation. Affordable prices and friendly service.

I would recommend anyone purchase a vehicle here. Gave me a fair trade for my truck. Dave was amazing, wasn’t pushy at all, no pressure sales. I usually feel like vultures swarming you at dealerships, but Dave was the best salesman I have ever worked with. I purchased my new truck and they even repaired a couple small things for me, after purchase. Can’t say enough good things. I’ll be coming back when my girlfriends call needs replacing.

I found a very nice Pontiac Grand Prix for my daughter that she loves. She originally wanted to finance a Corvette 😂. I live in the neighborhood but found the car online and went to check it out and talked to Darrell. The car looked really nice online but the pictures didn't do it justice. The car had lower miles and looked mint inside and out. They are very nice people and have a great inventory of sharp looking vehicles. After I found the car I spent several hours online comparing it to others of the same year and model in several states. The car looked better, had lower miles and had a very reasonable price tag. It was good to learn that the Grand Prix is front wheel drive, I don't need her ripping donuts in the snow like the old man. Check them out, right across from Walmart on Campbell.

Bought two cars here as I had purchased from them in the past. I went there to buy a car for my husband with cash. Later I went to buy a car for me, I had a trade-in of a very nice little Honda Accord, which was worth around $6000, at that point I was basically laughed at so I said I’ll sell.on my own (I got $6000) and I’ll just pay cash. I was convinced that I should get an extended warranty to which I was hesitant due to the price. But the car was 10 years old, a Cadillac, electronic, and so prior to the months’ end that I had to make the decision I went in and bought what I was instructed and told was a 50,000, five- year warranty for $2805. As I was getting ready to write the check I was told oh no it’s $2905 since I am not trading in a car and they have to make their money. I unfortunately signed the paper trusting Mark, who was my salesman, that this was a bumper-to-bumper 50,000 mile five-year warranty. Three years after I have the car I have an issue and my mechanic no longer takes aftermarket warranties, but suggested I call my company to see if they would refund me. To my surprise. I was not told the complete truth, I was sold a 36,000 mile/3 year warranty. This warranty had expired four days prior to the issue of my car. I was very upset. I went into them and said I was upset about this and tried to talk to them. The owner basically said he wasn’t going to do anything and after a lengthy discussion a large build salesman came in and said I’m sick of this and I’m going get you off the property, threateningly. I always had the impression that they were high quality, but I have been proven wrong. I asked that since I was given the impression of buying a five-year warranty, I would appreciate 2/5 of that $3000 refunded to me and was laughed at and Mike May sneeringly commented we wouldn’t sell that large of a warranty on your car anyway. The interesting thing is both of my cars that I bought, I ended up taking for inspection, which is against the law in Missouri for any dealer to allow a car to go off there a lot sold not being Missouri inspected. I will encourage you to read fine print , but even before that, I would encourage you to find another company
******
In response to your reply, the car wouldn’t have sold. As far as the $200 you paid me proved you believed that I was told bumper-to-bumper and you were a frustrated I was told I paid more without a trade-in. You were sarcastic, rude and condescending as was your office girl and large salesman who threatened to have me removed (he said he was getting pissed and would get me off the property) and stood behind me and you called him off. Also, I’m sure MSHP would be interested in knowing you sold a car (2) that were driven off the lot without a Missouri inspection which is against the law. Yes I took it for the radio and inspection to be done as I didn’t want to wait a week.Maybe you should think about salesmanship and lower your high and mighty self. Your office girl accusing me of calling you a liar, I said “you’re calling me a liar.” She was not there for most of it nor your football player and neither needed to get involved but they apparently didn’t think you could handle it. Your comment about I got by with only spending $3600, it should have been only $800 as yes warranty was a rip off and Mark hyped it up. Yes I pay for protection for my house, that’s required by my mortgage company. I didn’t have to by the extended warranty but it was so hyped up and knowing that “50,000” miles would last me a long time (no expiration date was mentioned by Mark) and again my ignorance for trusting Mark and signing that paper. Multiple people have been told about this situation and I will continue to discourage people from buying from May.Motors. I didn’t come in for this to occur but your condescending attitude with arms crossed frustrated me. I’m considered by friends and family easy going, but don’t deal with attitudes like yours.
Sincerely, Rebecca Gilmore

Update: Since you were so great to try to debunk my review, ill give you the dignity, and future possible customers the benefit of explanation. Thank goodness you cant find me in your records and for good reason. 30 some years ago you allowed employees to park in a neighbors yard. When asked to not do that, you, as the owner, encouraged the behavior, laughed and made fun of the nieghbor. As i matured, and you thankfully moved, i attempted several times to look into cars with you. Terrible customer service, terrible high mileage, over priced inventory. Major cover up of damaged vehicles. I did in fact test drive on several occasions.
You see, the way you behave today, can come back on you years later. I would love to meet the jerk employee that caused the trouble all those years ago. Karma is a wonderful thing.
This has consistently been the worst car lot in Springfield for over 20 years. Total rip off.

Great company with great people. I purchased a 2017 GMC Sierra and on the day I took it home began having transmission issues at only 70k miles. I lived 1 hour away and brought it back as soon as I could. After changing some software I took it home and the issue persisted. I returned again and turned in the vehicle to them and chose to look elsewhere. I say all this because they handled it perfectly. They had no way of knowing it would start having issues but offered to pay to fix it when they really didn't have to. Things happen and if they had another truck I wanted I would buy again. I hate the sale didn't work out but these are great guys that will do you good no matter what. Highly recommend, they have great vehicles for sale, I just got unlucky and they were great owners and handled it well.

Definitely no pressure sales. The process of purchasing the car was very easy. Mark was very helpful with all of our questions and very straightforward with us. We will always check with May Motor first when we are buying used.
