Not where you want to get a home loan. Terrible communication from the get go, very hard to get ahold of, I'm nice enough I won't call out the specific person I delt with. If you want someone easy to deal with get ahold of gershman mortgage. Much better to work with.

If I could give zero stars, I would. We had a terrible experience getting approved for a home loan. Our contact at OakStar, Brent Woody, had asked for documents which we obtained from our financial adviser with just over a week before closing and those documents were provided. He apparently didn't understand what he was looking at and rather than send them along and let the underwriters tell him what (if anything additional) was needed, he asked us for 'clarification' on the documents provided. I was out of town, so my wife authorized Brent to talk directly to our financial guy. Brent called our guy and couldn't clearly explain what he was needing. Our financial guy faxed over statements hoping that would cover it. Brent waited a full day before reaching out to him to say that he never received the documents. Our Financial guy faxed them again and again, Brent waited a full day to say that he didn't get anything. Financial guy emailed the documents and again, Brent waited a day to let him know they were again not received. Emailed again, and again, apparently not received, notified a day later. All of this went on without our knowledge! For a week, Brent was "not getting" the documents requested and our window to close as scheduled had since expired. As our movers were finishing packing everything we own on Friday afternoon - we were supposed to close on Monday - when we called Brent and he let us know that he didn't have what he needed. After we discussed how the heck that was possible, he finally went to our Financial Guy's office to pickup the EXACT SAME DOCUMENTS I HAD PROVIDED A WEEK AGO! At 3:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon, Brent let us know that our close can't happen as scheduled and we only found out at that point that there was even a problem because we called him! At this point, we can't close as scheduled and everything we own is in boxes and planning to be loaded up the next day.When my wife tried to explain our frustration with the situation to Brent's supervisor she was shut down and belittled and told that, "Brent had gone above and beyond" by driving to our financial guy's office to "make our close happen". We had PODs being delivered and movers scheduled and everything had to change at no small expense to us!It was at this point things got much worse. Brent took it upon himself to start negotiating with our Seller's Agent to obtain temporary possession, rent, or somehow access at least the detached garage so we didn't have to reschedule everything. He disclosed to the Seller's Agent personal, financial information that he was absolutely not authorized to disclose by us and caused the sellers to question the competency of our lender. His interaction with the Seller's Agent was so toxic that he nearly got the whole deal canceled. After talking with Brent the sellers added to the contract that close MUST happen within the following week or the deal was off. Turns out, we closed a day before that deadline.OakStar and Brent Woody sabotaged our closing date, cost us a great deal of extra moving and storage expenses, disclosed personal financial information to the seller's agent, dismissed our concerns, and quite nearly left us homeless having already sold our house.You're welcome to reach out. We gave OakStar a chance to help while we were in the middle of it and the organization wasn't interested at the time.Two weeks now and I haven't heard from anyone. It looks good for you to offer that though.Over a month after this review and response from Oak Star Bank and I have yet to hear from anyone...I stand by my recommendation to avoid these guys.

Predatory bank for sure.Be sure when you sign up that you are 100% sure of what you are signing. They screwed me over with overdraft and provided misleading information.They aren't easy to work with. They don't appreciate their customers and they have horrible hours. I highly recommend any other bank.

They made it easy for me to electronically provide all of the necessary documentation, and they proactively communicated with me at every turn. I was never left in the dark.
