You don’t need an appointment and with a sick dog and new in town, I was very thankful for that! I think their prices are reasonable, they are always helpful and friendly…. Call after surgery to check up on their patient… ?

This place does not care about your animal. I called in desperate need of help and all they could say was well if you can get here in 16 minutes we will do our best to help. I did not want to leave any stars but could not post this without putting one. MY STAR Rating is -5

My Tortie cat sweetpea, became very ill from urinary tract issues. I brought her here hoping to save her life. The vets here were wonderful, as was the office staff. She had blood work, an ultrasound and was started on an IV. Her numbers were off the scale, so it was touch and go. She came in on a Thursday, and by Friday afternoon was feeling much better. She had some fluid in her abdomen which still needed to be drained, so after discussion, I opted to let them keep her one more night, so that we weren't going home prematurely. It was also discovered that she had probable bladder cancer. The "feeling better" was short lived, unfortunately because a couple hours later She died from fluid overload, fluid in her abdomen. When the phone rang and I saw it was the clinic, I picked up thinking in the back of mind, they might be calling to say, she is doing so well, she can go home tonight, but sadly it was to inform me of her death. The Vet was very pleasant and professional. I of course was very numb.Take aways from this experience. 1. This clinic sees ALOT of pets. 2. They are all very professional, and care about your pet. 3. IV therapy can be a lifesaver, but there is also a risk of fluid overload. It can be extremely tricky, especially in a cat with renal failure. if all of that fluid cannot be eliminated naturally it has to go somewhere! 4. While every outcome may not be what the staff here, or the pet parent wants, they do try to take the best care of your pet. Things happen that no one can really control. I wouldn't hesitate to bring another pet here.

First of all if you love your pet, look elsewhere. They don't take appointments. I brought my dog in for surgery. They put her in a kennel. I get her back with a broken K9, a baseball size lump on her side behind the rib cage (4 months later still there.) ANDnails cut past her fur and 1 layer of sloppy stitches which came out they re stitched her those came out. They recommended to leave the wound open!! I took the dog out of state $600+. The vet cut away dead tissue from the wound, double stitched it - it healed nicely nicely and without a problem.

The staff is professional, kind and hard working. They are fairly priced. I have had a few pets seen there.

Only a short wait to be seen for our cat with a mouth abscess. Vet did not push or even suggest any expensive or unnecessary tests (something I hear about at other places often). The vet is extremely patient and has the magic touch to get cats to cooperate with him. We will always choose Countryside Veterinary!I'm enclosing a pic from the box of antibiotics we were prescribed. To help me keep track of doses, I made a simple chart so I can place an X to confirm meds were given. This particular script is twice a day so I will place 2 X's next to each weekday. Maybe this tip will help others too!

I want to say how wonderful this place is and all there employees. We brought our dog out a few days he was very sick. We were not a patient of theres, our vet was to busy to see our poor dog. They got him in right away and did everything they could to help us and him. They were kind and compassionate. Though the outcome was not What we wanted. They helped us and made it go as smooth as possible. We will never go anywhere else. Thank you so much.

Literally can never get anyone on the phone long enough to talk, I call. They pick up. They say “can you hold?” And then I hold. And hold. And hold some more. Then I hang up.

They took great care of our Jack Russell. We travel fulltime but they worked her in and took care of hernia fast. We are very happy with their service. We have used them before when in town and always got good service.

They icercgarfed me but were nuxe. The vet acted kije it was Hus first day. I don't understand why they are the only vets that we could find in this town. None if the others were taking new patients so I am grateful that these folks do.

In January 2023, I brought my cat to these people because I thought she was acting as if something was stuck in her throat and she was not eating. They charged me, at least, $450 for what included an exam ($95 for him to draw back the corners of her mouth and look at her teeth and then comb fingers through her fur), a shot of antibiotic, and a shot of cortisone, which they assured me would fix her up for a couple of weeks. (It didn't.) Their professional, medical diagnosis was, "She's got a bad mouth." I asked for clarification, and I got robotic responses, such a, "I already explained that to you." They didn't. Then they wanted me to sign a paper saying that they could pull some or all of her teeth, as they saw fit, and charge me accordingly to the tune of $1,000. They said this would fix the problem. I did not believe them.As it turns out, the cat has a dislocated jaw (something like TMJ) and we are now treating her with chiropractic adjustments. She is slowly improving, but this, "misdiagnosis" cost us precious time and a lot of unnecessary pain and lost sleep. If you really want help for your best friend and family member, you will probably have to search outside the ruthless, lawless city of St. Joseph and go to the nicer parts of Kansas City.

Horrible. Made my dog suffer for 2weeks longer than he ever should have due to lack of caring, lack of doing their job & lying to us. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS TO COUNTRYSIDE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THEIR WELLBEING.
