An LTL freight terminal with 4 stars overall is outstanding in the world of freight. Generally speaking, common LTL is a mountain of mediocrity and ABF is one of the few companies that is a cut above the rest. They treat their employees well (last Union LTL carrier that exists) and it shows through in the service their employees provide.

Their driver was very rude to my employees and dropped a diesel engine off in my parking lot when they new i had no way of moving it when he had a pallet jack and it was 50ft or less. I called the company they acted like they didn't care. I old them their drivers are no longer allowed on my property and to put me on a list of places they're not allowed. And that may not be much but they do deliver to me several times a year so they'll atleast hopefully lose a delivery here and there and hopefully as many as possible from this post

I used UPack to move my stuff a couple months ago. I guess UPack works with ABF Freight System, Inc (a subsidiary of ArcBest Corporation) to deliver the containers. When my container was ready to be delivered in MO, the ABF freight driver, Dale, gave me a call letting me know he was coming soon. When he arrived he used the forklift to load the container onto my driveway. Let me tell y’all, this dude was pretty darn careless. (I was outside guiding him onto my driveway). First, I felt, he didn’t get close enough to the pavement before dropping the container on my driveway. This made a loud bang sound. Second, he put down these anchors attached to the forklift on my driveway, and when he was done unloading the container, he just backed up without re-lifting these anchors. THIS SCRATCHED MY DRIVEWAY! Third, when he came back to pick up the container, I talked to him about it and he said use a power-washer… no apology, no big deal to him, he even smiled/smirked at me when he left. I talked to UPack and they told me to call ABF. ABF told me they’re not liable because of the contract items 7,10, and 11 that states that ABF will not be held liable for property damage caused during the move or placement of containers. They did offer a small appearance assistance but overall terrible experience.

Poor communication from dispatcher. Told incorrectly what time package would arrive. The package had to be signed for. The person had to wait at my house over an hr for driver to show so he could sign for package.

If management would get out in the field and try to see where the break downs are. I understand the lost package rate is high and the cctv video isn't Enough.

These reviews should really give an option for negative stars. My shipment was Florida to Missouri. It consists of 4- 5 gallon buckets. Thus far we are on day 12. The tracking app is worthless and bogus dates are put on there to apparently keep you from waging a complaint. Three days in a row it showed it was in the STL ship yard out for delivery. Called yesterday and they "don't know why" but my items were put on a truck going to Memphis which then the app said it will be delivered several days later. Later that day it said it will arrive last night. Naturally when that didn't happen I called and they are saying that it didn't get loaded for delivery today either. You do get to talk to the complaint department that claims they will call you back but that was nearly a hour and a half ago. This isn't rocket science. This tells me that they have way more complaints than manpower to fix or they just don't care. Despite this being a freight company with the sole duty of delivery, I am willing to drive there to get my product as it is holding up a business from opening since the flooring material has been traveling the country on this company's trucks. The good thing I can take away from this is anytime something is being shipped at a distance I have a name to not use. I really hope this helps someone else with their decision.

Hot shot to them is "We don't know why your shipment is still on the dock."When you absolutely positively have to have to get it delivered on someone else's time-line. Use ABF.
