I was previously a tenant at Chroma back in 2019, and returned to the neighborhood to tour Hue. The customer service was not the most welcoming, but to the point. It didn't seem like they wanted to make Chroma or Hue a home for me. The pricing is still high. I understand the location and amenities, but it doesn't justify the numbers presented to me. I found a larger, equally as nice apartment for less money a block down. I don't need to feel special, but just wanted in the community.

I've lived at Chroma/Hue for nearly 4 years now. Like any apartment complex (and I've lived in many across the country), it has its ups and downs. But one thing that stands out is the responsiveness and kindness of the staff—especially Maddie and Tyson, the complex managers. When things go wrong, they are quick to help and always handles situations with grace, even when they're out of there control.
For the cost and amenities, this place is absolutely worth it. The team does a great job keeping things consistently good—and often great.
P.S. If you're ever taking a tour, Maddie is your girl. If nothing else, you'll leave with a smile.

I moved into Chroma a little over a year ago and it has been a great place to live in St. Louis. Maddie was very welcoming when I arrived and has been my go to person since. She is always kind and the first to respond to any questions or concerns I have.
Thank you Maddie for making my experience at Chroma so great!

I love living here! My neighbors are all nice and the pool is incredible in the summer. Parking is secure and I haven’t had any issues but keep in mind, it is the city. Maddie has been there for years and we all love her and the recent change in management has been a nice change from the prior company.

The office manager consistently lacks respect for others and often behaves condescendingly. She is, unfortunately, one of the most unprofessional individuals we've encountered—unhelpful and seemingly indifferent to others' struggles. Additionally, expect challenges in getting your security deposit returned. If you’re sensitive to noise, uneasy with random street activity, or uncomfortable with potentially discriminatory behavior, particularly from the white female manager, this may not be the best place for you.

It is unfortunate that large corporations often try to take advantage of tenants, and this organization has shown a troubling pattern in this regard. Despite Missouri law clearly stating that a landlord must return a tenant's security deposit within 30 days of vacating the property, this company has consistently failed to do so.
After well over 30 days without receiving my deposit, I had no choice but to involve legal representation. My attorney sent a demand letter for payment, yet it should never have come to that. Security deposits are legally required to be held in an escrow account and should never be used for operational expenses. This practice raises serious questions about the company’s financial management and its respect for tenants' rights.
When I moved into this building four years ago, I was satisfied with the cost and conditions. However, like many others, I am now frustrated by the unprofessional handling of my security deposit. This is not a mistake, nor is it an isolated incident; it reflects a broader issue within this organization. If you choose to live here, be prepared to encounter the same difficulties countless others have faced.
Missouri law allows tenants to seek the return of their security deposit, plus damages amounting to twice the deposit, if the landlord fails to comply with the 30-day rule. I urge this organization to rectify their practices and return not only my deposit but also the legally owed damages for their failure to meet the required deadlines.
This is not complicated—it's simply a matter of professionalism and respect for the law.

This is the most poorly managed apartment building I have ever had the displeasure of living at. The sheer incompetence is baffling. You may never get your security deposit back, through no fault of your own, simply because they never bothered to process it. If you are a physician/resident contemplating living here, this is NOT a good place for you. There is noise, mess, inefficiency, theft and poor follow up. Make sure to sort reviews by recent, as the average does not adequately reflect the current state of affairs.

I don’t know where to start. As others have mentioned, you’re not going to get your security deposit back because there is no record of it. Between the multiple changes in management in the three years we lived in Chroma, things progressively only got worse. We lived in 381 initially only to learn how NOT soundproof the walls/windows were. With Rehab across the street, it almost felt like you were in the club to the point where my husband knew what song was going to play next. Unfortunately, no similar unit was available until a year later when we were able to move into 133. We were charged rent for both units, and when we only paid for the one we were living in, we were charged late fees that took months of going back-and-forth before it was resolved. We didn’t even have a signed lease for the past year, because there was no one in the management office to help us when we tried multiple times to sign one. Throughout the three years, the amenities and cleanliness have only declined. There were times when the gym would feel like 80+ degrees and you couldn’t change the temperature. There were times when the garage would be broken allowing non-residents to park and cars to be broken into. There were a few months where we had homeless people sleeping on our patio furniture and no one was able to do anything about it because the security guard is actually only there for a few hours in the evening, not all night. Recently (under the new management), an outdoor door we had requested to be fixed in February was not fixed until JUNE. For months, we had to listen to the door going from the dog park into the building slam so loudly to the point our wall would shake and wake us up in the middle of the night. There’s so much more that I don’t care to write out - if you’ve read this far I hope you don’t even consider living here. We paid almost $3000 a month for three years hoping things would get better but they never did. My husband calls it a “frat house” but honestly a frat house may be better than living in Chroma.

I think you can get a response from President but not from Chroma Management.
Poor maintenance of amenities as well.

My catalytic converter was stolen in the garage, and it took me months of phone calls to get my deposit back

Chroma used to be a good place to live. It has not been since management changed a few years ago.Multiple garage car break ins, packages being stolen from the mailroom, hallway lighting fixtures that don’t work, and unresponsive property management that refuses to be held accountable- although that may be because they are understaffed. Getting anything done is a prolonged painful process. They also don’t know how to use their own software. You can get all of this for the price of a luxury apartment. It’s a shame because the building was built beautifully but I would not recommend living here now.

During my 13-month tenure, the state of amenities consistently veered between malfunctioning and unclean. The secure parking garage gate, touted as a safeguard, remained broken for a staggering 8 months, exposing residents to multiple break-ins and vehicle thefts. To compound matters, a persistent water leak from my window was left unattended, fostering the growth of black mold around the seal. Despite repeatedly raising concerns, the management displayed a disconcerting lack of interest and made zero tangible efforts to rectify these glaring issues. The building itself, once a symbol of comfort, is now visibly succumbing to disrepair, raising valid concerns among the residents.Security lapses allowed homeless individuals unrestricted access to the building. Some even found refuge on residents' patios, highlighting a shocking failure in the security systems. In summary, the situation within the living environment became increasingly untenable, with a litany of issues ranging from broken amenities to compromised security, making the overall experience wholly unacceptable.
