Brought some items to donate and got to look around a bit. You can tell the cats are happy and well taken care of. The volunteers obviously really care about the cats.

Was desperately trying to find a home for my 80-year-old mother's cat. Her only income is Social Security. Gave details of situation in email to them. Made mention that she was selling her house and couldn't take the cat with her. THEY SAID THEY WOULD TAKE THE CAT IF WE PAID THEM $3,000 AND THAT THEY TYPICALLY DON'T ADOPT CATS OUT!!!!! NO MISTAKE on the amount or adoption comment - I know how many zeroes represent a thousand. Need proof for this ridiculous claim? Here you go! Clowder House (Yelp wouldn't allow posting of their email address) Hello and thanks for contacting us. We do charge a fee to accept cats to our shelter. To care for a young cat for its entire life, which is what we do (we typically do not adopt out), is $3000. I know that seems like a lot up front but if you divide that over 16-18 years it's $160 per year. If this is something you'd like to do, please let us know.

This place is wonderful. What a great idea. Retirement home for cats if not adopted. I cannot say enough on the Clowder House. The cats are so well taken care of and receive so much love and care. Diane is probably one of the best animal lover ever. She hasdedicated her life to these cats 100 percent. She spends 7 days a week caring for the cats.

This is an amazing program to help all cats in need of housing. I am deeply grateful for all the people here that make this service possible.

Volunteered at this place a couple of times, was told how much the cats were to adopt as that was my primary reason for wanting to volunteer.Life took a crazy turn and I couldn't volunteer anymore. Still interested in adopting, went there to get word about adoptions and was told by Diane to set up an appointment via email, get visiting hours ect.Reached out via email, was very disappointed to find out that she retracted her offer. Only a few days later.A lot of hassel and back and forth could have been avoided if she was more truthful with me from the start.

Very disappointing in the treatment of potential adoptees. I volunteered at Clowder house a couple times, I was scoping out cats to see which ones I get a long with best ect. I was advised on the price of adoptions ect. My life went in a different direction and could no longer volunteer, still interested I adopting I went there and spoke with Diane, was advised to set up an appointment via email. I did and was extremely disappointed to find out in a matter of days she had changed her mind about me adopting a cat. With no explanation. If she had been truthful from the start, I feel I could have avoided a lot of back and forth. Do not recommend adopting from these guys, but I do recommend volunteering. The cats are great.

The mission they have is wonderful. The volunteers do a great job even though it is a lot of work considering the ratio of people to cats! The space seems to be a little tight for 300+ cats, but they did an amazing job of utilizing the space by sectioning off cats by special needs and personality. My main qualm is that they don’t really seem to push adoptions for some reason.. a good chunk of the cats are adoptable (and some have lived their entire life there) but unless you reach out to them or know a volunteer, it’s pretty much seems to be a word of mouth adoption which is old school and still practical, but not the most efficient way of finding these cats potential lifelong homes, especially some of the cats that are “one cat only” type cats. They used to have visiting hours on Sundays (if I remember correctly) before the pandemic, but not anymore. Also due to the fact that the cats are free roaming, there is no real way to tell who is adoptable and who isn’t unless you ask. One person might say yes and another might say no... Though good rule of thumb is that if they are younger they are adoptable. Try not to be disappointed if that cute kitten you see in the window isn’t adoptable.Overall, awesome place, awesome people and lots of wonderful cats looking for homes.

Great place to volunteer as long as you don't have cat allergies. Everybody there is incredibly kind and they run a tight ship considering all of the fluff balls they have to deal with.

An awesome place to volunteer if you want to be surrounded by 300+ cats who free roam.
