Well, I had some kid in the club repair area aggressively call me a loser, totally unprovoked. Then he proceeded to scoff and cuss at me when I brought my full set to be gripped. I guess the worst part is I called the next morning to notify the GM, was told he would call. He never did. Instead I was called to let me know my clubs were ready to be picked up and instead of preventing another interaction with disgruntled employee, I had to endure another interaction with said employee. I guess it’s a moot point since PGA Superstore is in town now and no need to go to the TJ Maxx of golf. Nobody enjoys spending $200 to grip a set, so this was just an awful experience. Avoid the club repair area here! For reference, I was a frequent shopper here too, new wedges and irons were purchased here within the last 3 months.

First, I never leave reviews. Second, I’m not a great driver of the ball—I swing around 100 mph, generate about 140 ball speed, and hit it ~250 (215 carry) with a 13-year-old Nike Vapor Speed. I booked an $80, 60-minute driver fitting at Golf Galaxy hoping to find something that would actually help.
The first 20 minutes were spent hitting my own club, which was fine, but the TrackMan system was clearly mis-registering shots—everything showed as going dead right, even when I over-adjusted and snap-hooked. I told Bob, the fitter, that wasn’t possible (even my worst slices, like all do, have an arc). After nearly half the session, he finally moved me to the next bay and, unsurprisingly, my ball flight looked completely different.
From there, I hit my club again, and maybe 5 shots each with a Ping G440, Callaway Elyte X, and Titleist G2. On my intake form I specifically requested Ping drivers, but there was no real exploration beyond these three stock options. No shaft changes (I already knew I needed a stiff shaft, but no variations), no loft/lie adjustments (I already knew I needed 9 degrees, but no adjustments), no testing of alternatives. I had to pry for feedback, and when I asked why nothing was being changed, he just said these shafts are the “hottest thing out.”
After 45 minutes, Bob said, “Well, that’s what you paid for. Get the G440,” handed me a printout with some averages, and sent me on my way. I even had to ask to see my shot groupings before leaving, of which I had 2 registered for the Ping G440. This was by far the worst fitting I’ve ever had—rushed, careless, and unhelpful. If you’re considering a fitting here, I’d avoid Bob altogether or look elsewhere for someone who actually cares about helping you improve.
The best part? My 13-year-old brother-in-law went the weekend before with Michael Wyatt and had a completely different experience. He was taken to a back simulator room with cameras all around, asked what brand/model he wanted to test, and was given 4 variations of that club. Shafts were swapped, lofts and weights adjusted, and he found a setup that fit his goals. “I hit probably 100 shots with the club I ended up buying.” That’s what a fitting should be.

I had a new putter grip installed, the technician was friendly, professional, and had the grip installed quickly.

Been shopping at this location for years and there seems to be a recent change in management causing the overall service quality to go down hill. Also, you are expected to pay an additional $9.99 for a headcover for when you purchase pre-owned clubs. This is a new policy only effective at this location as the Golf Galaxy locations in Chesterfield and Fairview Heights nearby do not charge for their headcovers when you purchase a pre-owned clubs, regardless of whether it is the exact match or not. This has is a recent change at this location after the management switch. Would recommend Chesterfield for friendly service and better selection.
Side note: If you must shop at the Des Peres location, ask for Sam as he is the only one in management who always has a positive attitude with his customers.

It is extremely rare that I feel compelled to write a review, but this is one of those exceptions.
Initially, I was hesitant to start lessons at Golf Galaxy due to the fact that it is a chain retail store, but I'm here to tell you my prejudice was completely misplaced. I worked with Michael Wyatt for nine lessons and couldn't be more pleased. Michael was not only personable but also polite, knowledgeable, and understanding. I was never up-sold or pushed into anything I didn't initiate. There is more I could say, but if you're on the fence about trying a lesson with Michael, DO IT!!!
Other reviews come down hard on the staff. I feel this is a bit misplaced. The staff, in my experience, have been friendly and helpful. Maybe some people want to be sold something right when they walk in the door, but that will not happen at this location.
All in all, for a retail golf chain, I couldn't think of a better experience.

Don’t often leave reviews. Left my clubs there for two months just to get reshafted…never got done. Picking them up because I’m sure any other place possible could have it done in a week. Don’t go here

Went there today to try out a driver and folks were too busy playing on their phones and joking around with each other to help. 20 people working and only 2 helping customers . Unfortunate

Everyone here is miserable. No one is happy nor friendly. People that work the front desk have zero customer service, not polite, don’t greet you, all around bad. I asked if they had a military discount he said no why would we have that.

Don't like leaving bad reviews. I used the chat feature on the web site asked what brand of clubs that had that were available 3-8 hybrid (personal choice). She asked me to explain what I was looking for she didn't understand what a 3-8 hybrid. This was on a web chat with a "PRO". I then called the store directly and it stated the web site was available and, then the message stated Theyd help me if I was in the store THEN HUNG UP! I bought my last set of clubs from this store. I don't believe I've left a bad review yet! This is very disappointing

Terrible service. Had to walk in circles to find someone as all the reps were hanging out talking. Had to interrupt them to kindly as for help with a club. I was told they would not do a fitting because someone else may come in 50 min from then but they were not sure because the computers were not working. That said, there would have been plenty of time for a driver fitting in that time. I asked what I should do or if I was missing something, got a shoulder shrug from them. They mentioned maybe the Chesterfield STL store could help. No attempt to provide any service, offer a time, solution, nothing. Unless sending me 15 minutes away, in the opposite direction I came from, to another store was a great alternative. It was the poorest customer service I've seen in a long time. Makes the state DMV look like a luxury spa. Looking at the reviews, now that I'm leaving one, I see some similar and I suppose I am not too surprised. Shows a real lack of management in addressing this considering the prior complaints. I had a top end driver in my hand at the time and looking to also set up a future fitting for a new full set of irons on another date. Been going to golf galaxy for years and recommending them at business tournaments and other golf events I co-organize. Such a terrible experience I may never return and will likely go out of my way to suggest others from visiting their establishments as well. Felt completely unwanted there. Just terrible. Find another location or Club Champion, PXG, or Golf Discount. There service is exemplary and club fitting knowledge seems to be strides above.

Always a great experience whenever I go. I've really only been to this location and the one Chesterfield. And I've never had a bad experience in either one of them.

In an industry where sales are increasingly moving to the Internet, the customer service and satisfaction I get every time I go here is worthy of six out of five stars.

I had an excellent experience with Noah. He understood my budget, gave me multiple options, and talked to me about how to get the best out of my new driver. Will be back for other clubs for sure!
