I give Family Haven, while not a perfect shelter it is one of the best. First and foremost I'm a veteran. I first came to stay at Family Haven in Nov. 2022 as part of a program with the Veteran's Addministration helping homeless Veterans.Thank you Ventress for all your help and hanging in there with me until I was able to get out on my own via Salvation Army, The programs they offer work to help THOSE WHO WANT TO HELP THEMSELVES! That's right those who want to help themselves. They will teach you to fish. It will be up to you once you leave FAMILY HAVEN to earn your KEEP.They have lots of resources for veterans that help with housing food and moving on to a better life. One thing about family haven is that it is a safe place to be.They don't allow the coming and going of people just checking in and out willie Nellie. If you stay at Family Haven there are Rules aimed at keeping the community in the building safe. Simple stuff.I actually heard a conversation between 2 people in the warming center. 1 day and my like this, one lady said to the other, you don't understand this place is different they keep us safe. They have rules they feed us twice a day. They take good care of us. That's what they want to know. The coming mission going. They don't put up with shenanigans here. But they will take good care of you while you stay here. Get a grip, know what you have in front of you run with it. Get onto a better life family haven can help you.Awesome thanks list of those who helped this Veteran, me recover:AnnieVentressThe "Roc",.To My friend Hanifa, much respect to a great lady! Then there is Tony...good man, Tony for the accuracy and professionalism he always conducts himself with in the Family Haven Center.Bring back Bernadette to run the kitchen. Her caring and concern were second to none when it comes to making sure everyone gets a meal. She used to drive me crazy when I was the dorm captain for the veterans knocking on my door is so-and-so eating. Do I have to hold a meal? I want to make sure everybody gets something! that is Bernadette. I tell family haven never forget that she is your ace in the hole or a role model for moving forward.Darren. Mainten

This used to be a shelter for just women and children, but now they've expanded to providing emergency homeless services to men as well as military veterans. You must have a referral from the United Way Housing Resources, which can be done by calling 211.

Staff wasn't nice at all....we went to drop off mail to a patron there and a staff member came out glaring asking what was going on when we were just standing there talking....wow! If staff is like that I'm hoping the men there in need won't take it personal.

The person answering the main phone line needs to be replaced she has a bad attitude. I told her i need that position clearly she's not a people person. This one person is representing the entire agency and its not a good look.
