I worked here as a kid for a couple summers. It's hyper expensive but the location is convenient, the size of the store is manageable and the food is good. They have a lot of the same stuff as Schnucks (chips, soda, etc) but their homemade foods in the back of the store are quite good. Try the grilled salmon and a house-made salad. Also the bakery cookies are quite good, as is the fresh bread.

Strauss does everything first class. From baked goods to prepared meals to meats. Don't expect any bargains. Everything is expensive, but usually worth it.

Way more expensive than I needs to be. I was shocked and I shop at Dierbergs. So that’s bad. I love the seven layer cake and deli. But wow produce is actually twice the price of every other store like a small bag of potatoes is 10 bucks. Wild. Would be homeless if I shopped here for all my groceries. Also the old man that works here that’s a vet is very unpleasant… always. Js

What's with the attitude with the cashiers? On more than one occasion, I've walked up to check out, said hello ... and nothing (and that's on a good day). The passive aggressive treatment is confusing at best and completely inappropriate. Food selection seems decent but a recent purchase that included Cracker Barrel cheese (pre-packaged) was disappointing to say the least. Opening the bag, I discovered mold everywhere on the block of cheese ...

A very nice small grocery store with all of the departments with what you need. There are a lot of local items. Their bakery, in particular, is outstanding, especially the donuts. I also appreciate being able to buy single slices of Miss Hulling's cakes. There's a large selection of pre-made items at the deli. Though I don't eat meat, but formerly did, I must say their meat selection looks really fresh. I do buy beef bones for my dog at the butcher counter. The store is fully staffed and I've found everyone to be friendly.

First time in this store and the cashier was incredibly rude and condescending to me and my husband. I felt like a peasant right from the get go with her artificial smile and side-eye combination to the way she instructed me to empty the items out of my basket. Wow!

They are my delicious store for their homemade products, in-house meats, bagels & rare to find foodie awesome appetizers, chicken salad, etc… The customer service from staff, Mgmt., & cashiers is always warm, friendly & top notch. I go to many grocery stores for certain items but Straub’s is my once a week stop to spoil my family & friends.

Meat, deli, bakery, variety is good. Be forewarned. Check labels for expiration dates and produce for spoiling. Unless you plan to consume day of because you're not getting fresh food.

I love Straub’s. Today, however, I was super disappointed l. I went to the deli counter to get fresh chicken salad and fresh ham salad. The woman working the deli handed me pre-packaged salads. The chicken salad had an expiration date of tomorrow. If I wanted pre-packaged (not a fresh scoop) I would have picked a container from the pre-packaged section rather than waiting at the counter. Both tasted fine but not cool Straub’s not cool. If a customer goes to the deli they should get the time of the person to weigh out their request not handed a prepackaged (expiring tomorrow) product, This was a truly disappointing experience at a grocery I have loved a long time. Honestly- you are only as good as the service you provide and today I was not impressed. I hope the next time I shop at Straub’s I receive the quality of service and product that has been the majority of my experience
