Disappointed Customer – Still No Response
I am extremely disappointed with UMB Bank’s lack of follow-through and customer service. On June 11, I sent a detailed email to Theresa Nikolaus, Regional Manager, regarding a series of ongoing issues with my accounts—and as of June 16, I have received no response.
Despite being a long-standing customer who has referred family, friends, and employees to UMB, I’ve experienced the following unresolved problems:
My fiancé’s debit card has never worked properly, causing repeated inconvenience and embarrassment.
We never received the promotional bonuses promised when opening the account, even after being told the issue was resolved in person.
I still cannot access my tax account via the mobile app, and no one has been able to provide clear guidance in the absence of Chris, who was previously helpful.
At this point, the complete lack of communication and unresolved issues make me seriously consider moving all of my personal and business accounts elsewhere. I expected much better from a bank I’ve trusted for years. UMB must do better.

I was treated like I was as important and the young lady who assisted was patient. She took care of my requests and remained attentive to my conversation.

This bank gained control of my hsa due to a merger/sale of the prior bank for my account. UMB then charged a monthly fee (which was NOT done at my prior bank) and forced me to find hsa account with a different bank that would not charge a monthly fee. Upon closing my account, they charged a 25 dollar closing fee. Very unhappy as I never selected them as my hsa account holder in the first place. I lost money in my hsa as a result which could have been used for medical expenses. Do not use this bank!

The South Broadway Branch was great in closing my account. It was the Review Dept held my legitimate wired funds for almost 2 months and I was a recent customer. They made up a lie about holding my funds. With no direct contact with that dept, they gave me the run around about the hold. They eventually released my funds to me after 2 month review but forced me to close my account. With no explanation. A very bad experience. Worst in my life. Glad to be done with them. Their Review Team is slow and incompetent. Weird too. They act like my money was their money. Real shady bank practices. I would not recommend them to anyone. If you do only go to the South Broadway location two very nice tellers one of them named Tracey.
