I have an account and pay them every month but have had no claim yet. I am very happy with Customer Service when I have to call for any reason, they are always nice and professional. I hope when I do have to file a claim that they are just as helpful as they always are over the phone. Update 9/26/24 - We did use them once and never again. Out of a $1,200 claim, we had to pay over $700 out of pocket. What happened to the deductible???

We have had car shield for 3 years and only used it 3 time's. Car shield always wants to argue with the mechanic shop that they approved about parts prices. I am very disappointed in the way they do business. My mother is 88 years old and never misses a payment. It's drafted from her bank every month. Car shield is not a good deal.

I wouldn't give it a star at all, cause it is a rip-off, please don't give them a dime of your money. I did and when we needed them most they turned their backs on us, and we had to come out of pocket twice, paying them and paying to get our jeep fixed.
Don't do it

Carshield has not only met my expectations, they have well surpassed them! Recently my truck broke down, and ultimately needed a new engine. Carshield approved the repair, including some ancillary parts that needed repair, and I didn't even know about those! Also, Carshield is the ONLY company that I could find that would cove my 1999 Chevy Silverado! I am a loyal customer! I highly recommend Carshield!

SCAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM !!
They’ll take your money but won’t fix your vehicle. Even with documentation in your favor. I wish I didn’t even have to give them 1 star.

I called to cancel my policy after I purchased a new vehicle in July. They continued taking payment in August and when I called to find out why they claimed I never called them in July and tried to sell me another policy for the new car and were going to charge me another payment instead of crediting the payment they took by mistake! ! I will not be called a liar so cancelled EVERYTHING. They refuse to refund Aug payment. Scammed me out of $90! Very rude on phone. Will never deal with them again!

Cannot give it ZERO stars!
Ripoff! is all I will say, Save your money for repairs.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!
They make everything miserable on you and the repair shop.
Want you to put used or refurbished parts on your car or truck.
Deny your claim because you didn't do some exactly right.
They need to be sued with a class action lawsuit for false advertisement.

I have been a loyal CarShield/ American Auto customer for approximately four years, having relied on their policies to protect against vehicle mechanical failures, including engine and transmission repairs or replacements. CarShield markets itself as a company that covers mechanical repairs and promises to ease the burden of expensive repairs.
I own a 2016 Dodge Charger, which has been at Kendall Dodge dealership since June 18, 2024. The dealership confirmed that my engine has failed and requires replacement. Given that I have CarShield’s Diamond Coverage—marketed as a top-tier plan that includes drivetrain (engine and transmission) repair coverage—I believed I would be fully covered.
However, the process has been anything but straightforward. Despite providing the required documentation, including photos and detailed reports from the dealership, and even after CarShield/ American Auto sent an inspector to verify the issue, my claim has been repeatedly delayed. Now, the estimated cost of the engine replacement is $13,000 - $14,000, and CarShield/ American Auto has denied coverage.
On August 14th, 2024, I contacted the Carshield/American Auto customer service number. During our conversation, the representative disconnected the call abruptly. This behavior is unprofessional, and it has led me to advise against recommending CarShield/ American Auto to anyone.
This experience contradicts the promises made in CarShield’s advertisements and raises serious concerns about their commitment to providing the coverage they promote. They continue to take monthly payments from consumers while failing to honor their obligations when it matters most.

Run away. DO NOT USE CAR SHIELD! All they want to do is take your money. I was $109.00 a month. And they will not replace my engine. They said I didn't charge my oil, so I sent them 17 oil changes receipts to show that I do. They even put that engine in a year ago. The engine they put in had 111,000 miles on it. And we had a $200.00 deductible but we had to pay $800.00 not $200.00 also they would not get us a rental until they approved they will pay for the work, they also only give you a rental for how long the book says it will take to put in. And after you take it in for repairs the garage has to do a diagnostic then it only takes 24 to 48 hours to get approved but they will take over a week and then on top of that it will take 1 more week to get the parts you need. Car Shield doesn't care about anyone they just want your money and then don't fix your vehicle. Like I said Run find someone else that will stand behind what they say.

So much spam. I wouldn't even consider using any place that spams that much. *Update* A generic not helpful answer from the company. Still rolling in multiple spam emails a day over multiple accounts.

The one and only time I have tried to use Car Shield for roadside service they didn’t respond. It was 8:45PM and after trying to contact them again for 45 minutes, I finally had to call my ex husband to come help me.
