Horrible! Our return was $199 and H & R Block charged us $150 in filing fees to do the taxes!!! That’s highway robbery! They could hv taken $75 dollars. All they’re doing is putting into given to them! It’s not that hard! This world’s hearts are so cruel & greedy!!!???

I'll start with the good: the woman at the front desk was SO personable and helpful when things didn't go well for me at my appointment today with Sharon. She didn't ask any questions when I requested to grab my tax documents so I could bring them home and do my own taxes. I'm so grateful for her.Now the bad: Sharon is one of the most combative and condescending people I've had the misfortune to meet. She told me that I would be penalized for withdrawing from a retirement account, and when I brought up that I believed it was exempt from the tax penalty due to what the money was used for, she said, verbatim, "Sweetie, I've been doing taxes for 20 years and I've never heard of anything like that." She said she'd love to see the information and then proceeded to argue with me after I brought it up on my phone for her. She seemed annoyed that I didn't have every document she wanted and insisted my previous tax accountant didn't do things correctly if he didn't require all the documents she needed; every accountant does things differently and it's impossible to know what is truly required when it's not communicated beforehand. The cherry on top was when I asked the woman at the front desk if I could have my tax documents to bring home with me, and Sharon had already forgotten who I was only two minutes after our appointment ended.I was always intimidated to file my own taxes as a small business owner because it seems so complicated, but it was actually very simple and straightforward through TurboTax--AND I didn't have to pay a penalty on my retirement withdrawal, because they're up to date on their tax information. So, in the spirit of learning, I suppose this experience was a net positive... but I sincerely hope no one else has to experience what I did today.
