American Indian boarding schools, also known more recently as American Indian residential schools, were established in the United States from the mid-17th to the early 20th centuries with a primary objective of "civilizing" or assimilating Native American children and youth into European American culture. In the process, these schools denigrated Native American culture and made children give up their languages and religion.

St Labre is an awesome school. I love the campus grounds, plenty of outdoor and indoor activities for all year round. A nice park by the tongue river. Very beautiful and friendly people of all different ethnic backgrounds work there. The museum is a must to stop in and see!!

From the reviews it sounds like they are doing a great job for these kids but I have one question:Why are the Indians not taking care of their own children? They have casinos on most every reservation so why do they have a "boarding school" that needs so many donations?Yes I know, that's 2 questions

May be a great school but after giving one donation and asking to have my name removed nothing has happen. They have already spent more money trying to get more than I gave. Based on other reviews from people with the same problem I WILL NEVER GIVE AGAIN!!

I give when ever I can. I love helping out every chance I get. I love the gifts I get in return. I would love to visit the school some day. Thank you, St. Labre

I constantly receive junk mail from them asking me for money. I have emailed, written and called asking them to remove my name from their mailing list. I called today, April 5, 2017. The lady that answered the phone said that yes I am on the mailing list but she could not remove me since they did buy my name. I nicely told her she was wasting her money sending me requests. She said that 75% of the people who receive a "give money" request send money! It was plain to me she did not care that I get mail from them that I do not want. It is totally unbelievable that if they really wanted to help children they would stop wasting the resources that they do have!! I have no idea how to stop getting mail from them. I already have charities I support. When your name has been sold to charity mail marketers, you get 5 or more pieces of money request junk mail on average. I don't want to send anyone money who wastes it like this.

We visited the School in October on our way to visit Little Big Horn, Devil's Tower, Wind Caves, Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore. We met the Director, Curtis who took off time from a staff meeting to greet. They are doing an amazing job educating the 750 children! We were impressed with the love and dedication of the entire staff. We will continue to support their efforts!
