If there's ever a place suitable for skiers and boarders who have not once been on the slopes as well as those who have been on the slopes from the time they were in diapers, Big Sky is the place to be. It is truly massive, so much variety of terrain, amazing snow quality and gorgeous views. You want to do it Big, you do it at Big Sky.

Skiers of triple black diamonds will drool but there are also some spectacular blue groomers at this remote resort founded by Chet Huntley in 1972.

The skiing is alright! The layout is a little funky compared to other places. You get filtered back to the main lift a lot which gets busy and the right side you have to take 2 lifts to get back to that side.

Recently, the lift ticket prices for Big Sky Ski Resort have been absurd. $240+ a day. Expect a corporate "Vail resorts" experience.

Terrible signage, we got lost on the slopes several times. The worst part was our very green beginner ending up on double blues because of a lack basic signage.Don’t come at the end of the season because most of the employees seem to be mentally checked out. Ski lift operators don’t provide any kind of traffic control they would just stand aroundNearby activities: After the slopes close at 4 there is nothing to do at night.Safety: Very dark at night, not many street lights. Doesn’t seem to be any security patrolling the area either

This ski resort is HUGE. You could easily spend 2 days here and not repeat a run. The amenities are awesome. Heated seats on some lifts. Covers to pull down over you when it snows. They have great areas for beginners— our 7 year old had a great time. But also double black options for experts. I love that they have an excellent adaptive ski program associated with the resort. We didn’t find that until the day we left, but still be back to have our daughter with Down syndrome take a class. The lift tickets here are pricey. No question. We used our mountain collective passes which made that part easier to swallow for us. 2 days at Big Sky almost parts for the entire pass.

I stay at my own place, so the rooms, service are place holders. My place is wonderful and rentable, but I am not here to advertise that.I am here to tell everyone, there is nothing like Big Sky and Big Sky Resort. Spectacular, over the top scenery, somewhat remote, small, friendly, skiers ski town. Few bars, few restaurants, small town center, wonderful vibe, and some of THE BEST skiing in N. America. When it is full of snow, generally later in the season, the terrane is unmatched.Summers are even better. Fifty five minutes to Yellowstone entrance. Fifty five minutes to Bozeman. Flowers all over the place in summer. Spectacular weather. Wonderful smells. Wildlife everywhere. An unbelievable experience.Even the off seasons offer something for everyone. A special place in our hearts and my heirloom property.I cherish the day we were shopping for a house out west and we turned off of US191 to head west towards the town on Lone Mountain Trail and there in front of us stood Lone Mountain beckoning us to come and explore. Those of us who know Big Sky know the feeling when you turn that corner. Same feeling I get going over the bridge to our house on Marco Island. Same feeling I get entering our neighborhood in Lake James.Spectacular place. Visit if you can.

Great ski hill but man the conditions are rough. The atmosphere is wonderful. DJ in the evenings. Almost a steamboat party vibe.Runs are slightly shorter. Not a fan that you have to pay for the tram. But I guess it keeps down the traffic.A lot of chair lift issues and the lines have been pretty long

Big Sky Montana Ski Resort undoubtedly boasts a stunning backdrop of natural beauty, but my recent visit during Presidents Day week revealed some notable drawbacks that detracted from the overall experience. While external factors like poor snow conditions aren't within the resort's control, issues such as lack of snowmaking, disorganization in lift lines, and unclear trail markings highlighted areas for improvement. After visiting multiple resorts in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming, this resort was lower on our favorite's list.Snow Conditions and Snowmaking:It's unfortunate that the snow conditions were subpar during my visit, especially considering the significant investment in lodging, lift tickets, and other amenities. While natural snowfall variability is expected, the absence of snowmaking efforts in areas with exposed mud on green runs or high traffic zones was disappointing. Given the considerable expenses incurred by visitors, proactive snowmaking could significantly enhance the skiing experience, even during less favorable weather conditions.Disorganization in Lift Lines:One of the most significant challenges encountered was the disorganization in lift lines, which detracted from the overall enjoyment of the skiing experience. The lack of assertiveness and organization among lift attendants led to chaos and frustration among guests. Instances of line-cutting and confusion persisted throughout the visit, with minimal effort from staff to rectify the situation until the final day. Implementing clearer protocols for line management and proactive communication from lift attendants could greatly improve the efficiency and guest satisfaction in this regard.Trail Markings and Signage:Another area of concern was the clarity of trail markings, which fell short compared to other mountain resorts. Unclear signage and inadequate trail marking made navigation challenging, particularly for visitors unfamiliar with the terrain. Improving the visibility and comprehensiveness of trail markings would enhance safety and accessibility for all guests, regardless of skill level. While the resort's natural beauty and potential for a memorable skiing experience are undeniable, the issues with snowmaking, lift line organization, and trail marking clarity warrant a lower rating. With targeted improvements, Big Sky Montana has the opportunity to reclaim its status as a premier ski destination.
