Had an issue with my car door that was draining my battery, and the owner fixed it right away, he was super helpful and chill. One of the easiest mechanic experiences I've had! Will be coming back and highly recommend!

Kirk always explains what needs to be done, suggests what preventative maintenance you might want to have done. He is very fair with pricing. I would recommend Avalanche with no reservations.

Wow! Avalanche is amazing! Kirk got me in the week that I called for an oil leak. He was very knowledgeable and helpful! He explained what and where the leak was. He taught me about the things he was fixing and didn't talk down to me at all! He also took the time to show me where on the car the leak was and what to look for!
He was quick to respond and gave a more than fair price! I will definitely be going back!

Someone wanted to buy my low miles used car and got it checked out here. I run a fleet of 40+ vehicles and restore classic cars and this place was way below par vs the 2 shops I use. The shop was a mess, stank like BO, and had open fluid containers all over. He was wearing shorts and sandals which was a red flag. He couldn't find the paperwork in the pile of old food, trash, and clutter all over the bench. This guy here was massively unprofessional, rude, and would switch demeanors and tone in a way neither of us liked at all to talk down to my girlfriend every time she spoke. He chewed me a new one and then some like a kid - that I was selling a car with a code throwing - basically it would cost like 2ish grand to fix an emissions item that did not affect performance and I had the paperwork from my preferred shop showing that. He thought I should throw that money down the drain for no reason other than turning the light off. Anyway, I had discounted the car a lot and everything to account for that and this guy made it his mission to chew me out and talk the buyer out of the sale, not knowing I'd discounted it, also it wasn't his business anyway. Funny thing is, is I had 3 little things on my shop's report that he missed because he didn't actually inspect the car physically which he admitted, he just plugged in it to get the codes and did a poor job of even that, as he couldn't tell anyone what they meant. Long story short, he did a half try inspection at best, misdiagnosed an issue as serious when it wasn't causing any noticeable issue, shop was a mess, he missed multiple things, he was very unprofessional, and very rude, and torpedoed the sale. The now ex-potential buyer and his girlfriend also said they would never go back after the experience he'd had there as he felt it was also below par. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. I know 3ish of the 4 of us wrote bad reviews over this and they keep getting removed or not being published publicly.

Can’t say enough good things about this shop. Very communicative with updates, fast, friendly and reliable all while being fair priced and efficient. Safe to say that if I ever need to have something fixed I know where to go.

Kirk always seems to have the time and space to squeeze me in his schedule. I respect his opinion, and he saved me from buying a car with several hidden problems. The only reason I took a star off is because he sometimes is not available during his posted business hours. I hate to write a negative review, however I believe my experience was bad enough that it is warranted. I brought my car in to get a wheel bearing replaced which I was intending on doing myself due to it not being an incredibly difficult task. Sadly I was rather busy and figured it would be easier to just bring it in. Kirk's communication was less than ideal. I spoke with Kirk on the phone 5 times. Every time I called. This was slightly annoying but acceptable. The true tragedy of my visit to Avalanche Auto was when the car was finally finished Kirk charged me 25% more than I was originally quoted. This was an upsetting surprise. I payed what was asked even though almost 600$ is absurd to replace a wheel bearing. Kirk is the owner of his shop and that is admirable I would hate for him to loose business. This being said I believe there are much better local shops in the Bozeman area. If you use Avalanche Auto I recommend talking to Kirk in person if you would like to be treated like a person.Service: General repairs & maintenance
