I sat in the drive thru for 20 minutes and no one helped me. They were helping the other people that were in the drive thru. I left without getting any help. I can’t believe how awful this company’s customer service is

Normally, you put money into a bank to keep it safe, but First Interstate Bank seems to think your money is there for confiscation. There is a mess of rules hidden in fine print just waiting to snag your hard earned money. Additionally, the online banking website is lacking so that snail-mail and in-person visits are used to accomplish many of the functions offered virtually by normal modern banks.I opened an account before leaving town for a while thinking that I would deposit more and use it when I returned. Apparently there is some rule about account inactivity - they just start deducting money every month and don't tell you. After they stole about $50 I found out and tried to withdraw my money - nope the account is locked and can only be unlocked in person. I tried to close the account - nope, it must also be done in person... like it's 1990. $100 later when I returned to Montana I went in to close the account, their response was "You would have known that rule if you had seen it in the contract that no one reads". Yes, that is not paraphrasing. So let me paraphrase - that $100 is ours now because you didn't pull out a microscope to read the fine print.I also have a Bank of America account and an Ally Bank account and both have websites that are 100x more user friendly and neither have these obtuse rules. My Ally account has $10 in it and they've never charged a cent. So let me save you the headache and suggest that you find an alternative without the nickel-and-diming attitude of First Interstate Bank.

Online banking isn't working, and you can't go into a branch. Instead of trying to help when you call, they give you another phone number to call. Said phone number is a mess of automated options, and it takes forever to get a real person on the phone. FIB is awful, go elsewhere.

Horrible bank horrible service they were good years ago now they are bigger and nickel and dime you for everything so I’m closing my account, move to online banking and put these banks out of business no need to pay for people that are rude to have jobs. Marsha was very rude my family will né canceling there accounts too!!!

Horrible bank horrible service they were good years ago now they are bigger and nickel and dime you for everything so I’m closing my account, move to online banking and put these banks out of business no need to pay for people that are rude to have jobs. Marsha was very rude my family will né canceling there accounts too!!!

Do not bank here if you work for tips and make cash deposits. I had been banking with First Interstate for 4 years and also did our business banking with them, consistently making cash deposits and answering all questions appropriately. I received a letter in the mail notifying me that my accounts would be closed in a month with no explanation but a pamphlet filled with legal jargon that is almost undecipherable to real people. I called the phone number on the letter and it went to voicemail. I called two local branches with no answer before talking to someone who directed me to another phone number that led me to a directory that wasn't relevant to my query. First Interstate can't give me a call and tell me why they're closing my accounts or give me a clear explanation in their letter after four years? Local bank for Montanans? Not a chance.

Getting to know Jody has been a pleasure. You can tell that she wants to help her clients get into their new homes in a way that they can understand and afford. I have met some of her team as well and they are just as pleasant and helpful as she is. It is for this excellent customer service that I chose to get my mortgage from First Interstate.

I use First Interstate Bank for business and personal - can't say enough great things about their service. I've used them for over 15 years. Special shout out to Jody Ekstrom who is a wealth of knowledge about mortgages, she is super helpful and experienced.

Turned off my card because I didn't want to answer a questionnaire. No phone call or warning or any kind, just had my card declined while trying to buy groceries. Garbage bank
