Very rude owner… hostile and weird when he is sorting your books. Literally opened the door for me to leave because I asked if he would take two of the four he selected to take… for pennies on the dollar. had no issues just a question since he said he’d take the 4 anyways. If you don’t make a decision FAST and I mean within 30 seconds he’s gonna say you’re “in a huff”… just think it’s really bad buisness to treat people that way…some people need time to process an offer. Never asked for more money just less! also think he was discriminating against some political titles I had. Very poor service. Go elsewhere!

I love this place! I pass by once in a while to get a postcard. Forget the reviews on prices. It’s a local bookstore, the prices aren’t outlandish. If you want cheap, go elsewhere.

One of the best bookstores I’ve ever been to. Broad and eclectic selection of books to.

I've been here several times over the last 24 years. I always come out with a gem of a find. I love the atmosphere of a cozy bookstore with jazz playing in the background. The used book prices are great, there are so many beautiful cards for all occasions. I love how the new hardcovers have protectors on them. I think my favorite areas are the children's books (child at heart), and classic sci-fi, fantasy like H G Wells and Philip K Dick. I've found some harder to find books of them. I love finding a great card for someone who has a special place in my heart too. Some, I'd say, are definitely frameable. I can't forget the staff. They are lovely. They don't mind if I need to store my clunky purse with them, they have great recommendations, and are always friendly. My spirits always lift when I walk in the door.

Cute little shop but I found the selection to be a bit underwhelming. Also I didn't think the prices on the books were clearly marked and they ended up being more expensive than I would have expected.

this place isn't worth the trouble. For books go a few doors down to County Bookshelf, for records go to Cactus, for cards go to etsy.

This is the real deal, a well organized bookstore with a good vibe. Wish we had more time, will be back soon. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I was disappointed to see a couple finding books that excited them only o pull out their phones and order for a lower price on line. Folks, WAKE UP! Buy the books here and support brick and mortar retailers or we'll lose gems like Vargo's. There, I said it.

I don’t know if that male that works there is the owner or not but they SERIOUSLY need to do something about that guys attitude. It’s been several times I’ve been in there browsing and I’ve been followed and yelled at for LOOKING AT THE BOOKS? And I’ve noticed he only does this to women or young people in general. I’ve never had this experience with anyone else besides this guy. I’m done with this place and will stay at country bookshelf where the staff is friendly and helpful.

No. Everything about this place was wrong. Used books were almost as expensive as new books. Vinyl's were way overpriced. Customer service was not friendly. Signs saying you couldn't even take a purse, backpack or sidebag up to the balcony was kind of odd. Just not a warm and inviting atmosphere, exactly what you DO want in a used book store.

Like others have said, a man working there is rude. I used my phone to make a note and he said I couldn’t do that in the store, then followed me around until I left. I had books I was planning on buying, but decided not to after that. I saw many books that had marks or signs of wear that were marked as new. Disappointing experience overall.

There is an interesting vinyl collection up in the loft area. Some used rarities and new rock. Prices were a bit high. There is a huge jazz CD collection on the main floor. Let's hope this iconic spot for music stays open amidst the Main Street Bozeman tourist invasion and greedy landlords that would rather lease to corporate everyplace chains.

A wonderfully cute bookshop with an equally comfy aesthetic—especially when you make it to the back or upstairs. Truly a great curated philosophy section from multiple time periods and authors which is hard to find. Overall, great book shop!
