About Powder River Historical Museum
The museum is open seasonally from June -September. Entrance is free of charge and supported by donations. Visit the best kept secret in southeast Montana! Our collection has such variety that there is something for every interest and taste. It contains many valuable historical collections, including photos and books, Indian artifacts, vintage clothing & household items, old guns and ammunition, pre-1900 buggies, vintage autos, tractors and farm implements, and western heritage. Our "Town" contains snapshots of the past from local businesses including the soda fountain, barber shop and post office. A prized acquisition are battlefield artifacts from the Reynolds Campaign in 1876 - a forerunner of Custer's last stand.

Wonderful museum. Man by the name of Bob Tolcott gave us volumes of information. He has lived in the area his entire life, I think. What will happen to allow the wonderful western museums when the old guard is gone?I would visit here again.

Stopped off here (some time ago) to break up a long journey - and we were so glad we did. Wonderful eclectic collection, covering many different subjects. The couple running the place on the day, were very friendly and lovely to talk to.
