We were put off by some of the reviews so weren’t going to eat here but as options were limited mid September decided to try it! Our waiter was lovely, the owner was welcoming and the food was good home cooked style! We had the meatloaf and no one could manage dessert. Don’t be put off by some of the reviews - charging for sharing is a new concept to us but seems quite common in this area where they have only limited months of the year to make any money. Accept the local customs and you will have a great time. Most beautiful area ever!

Nice area; close to Glacier national park and fun area to be in altogether. Awful staff. Don't believe a word they tell you. They will screw you over. They don't care about customers. They just manipulate their great location into sucking money out of you.

First off, we were glad we stayed on the East side of Glacier NP. Fires sprung up on the West side while we were there so those folks were on evacuation alert plus smoke from the Canadian fires was heavy there some days. We liked being within the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. It was the quiet side. Be sure you have what you need when you get here because stores are in Browning which is probably 30 miles away. There are 2 gas stations in St. Mary tho. The campground had good views of St. Mary Lake. Our site was just in front of the tent area which made for more seclusion and trees/brush areas. Great place to walk our dog. While the RV sites are still close together in our opinion, the campground kept a natural look to it which we liked. There was also a family owned restaurant on site. The family has owned this campground/restaurant since the 1950s. If we are ever in Glacier NP again, we would stay again at Johnson's. Well kept campground.

If your staying in St Mary, this is the place to eat a home cooked meal. The type of meal that will put meat on your bones. If you just got done with a hike you will be especially pleased with the quantity of food.Everything comes family style here so be ready to share. Our family of 8 had dinner here. We had pot roast and chick fried steak. Both dishes had savory gravy and came with potatoes, Cole slaw and a beef soup. The beef soup and the Strawberry Rhubarb pie were stand out dishes. I also got the huckleberry ice cream pie which was enormous, make sure you have room to consume this monster. We loved it so much that we took a detour out of way to come back and eat lunch here. The prices are reasonable. We actually tried to buy a whole Strawberry Rhubarb pie but it was not ready yet. I guess we were the first person ask to buy a whole pie because the server was a little bit taken back by our request. I'd definitely come back here.

Bad experience, the worst attention I've ever received. If it's a restaurant that's close to the National Glacier Park, it should have people trained to serve international people who aren't racist. From the first moment we entered we were looked at in a derogatory way and treated badly because we were speaking in another language. Very intolerant and racist people

Our stay at the rv park was great beginning with check in and excellent staff. Sites are close but the view was incredible and all the utilities worked as expected plus our neighbors were super nice . Close to all the things we wanted to do.

The barley soup I would give the chef a big thumbs up, but if you are from California do NOT let the new owner Know this! He is RUDE and you are treated so poorly! He lets it be known that he intensely dislikes people from CA, (but doesn't mind taking you money)! He even has a couple of bears he's killed himself in the back with baby dolls & feet in the bears mouths that make reference to people from Calif! Very strange guy..we had to eat, but unpleasant experience. Our waitress Leah was a sweetheart.! So sad! Our entire experience in Montana was a blessing save from this!

I just went to the restaurant for lunch a couple times and the food and service was pretty outstanding. Very western/Glacier look to it . Had the thimbleberry cheesecake for desert and it was pretty phenomenal. Never heard of it before so I had to try it and glad I did. I drove through the RV Park and the sites looked very close together but the view was awesome...

Didn’t stay with them, but tried to dine with them. Was told to write our names on a sheet and we’d be called when we were next. After 15 minutes of waiting I asked one of the servers if there was anything else we needed to do, or if he knew how long the wait would be. He looked at me like he couldn’t believe I’d asked him and told me it’d be quite a while, then walked off and said nothing else. Nobody else ever greeted us or said anything. We left about 10 minutes later after refusing to be greeted or served by anyone. We instead went to the open cafe just down the road where all the staff was very friendly and the food was amazing.Food & drinks: Staff are rude and dismissive.

Restraunt review here. The food was fantastic! Best place we've eaten at our entire trip to Glacier. Staff was great and the restraunt is very cool. 10 out of 10. Thanks!

Family style dinner was amazing. Highly recommend. If you’re fussy you will think this is too inflexible - go somewhere else. if you’re looking for a delicious family-recipe home cooked meal it can’t be beat. Loved it.

This review is for the cafe. Don’t come here unless you’re looking for a fantastic home cooked meal, in a cozy warm restaurant. Best fried chicken meal ever!

The food is awesome! Love the atmosphere, I grew up on a farm, this reminds me of all the small town vibes.Appreciate the anti-vegetarian art, finally something to balance out the hip culture.Warning, this restaurant is not for "typical tourists from big cities" or extreme liberals or city slickers. Respect the locals and you would have a great time.Noteworthy details: Enjoy all the arts on the side rooms, there are 3 real Bear skins

Small quaint cafe at the top end of the parking lot of the Red Eagle Motel & Camp, so it was a short walk from our room at the Motel. We put our names on the wait list and after 5-10 minutes were shown to a two top table. Water and menus were served promptly, but then no one came back for at least 10-15 minutes. Finally our waitress arrived. A cute gal with a Southern drawl ,we thought maybe Texas but no, still a Southern girl. Very professional and helpful! The menu has clever names for the food options.Prices were fair and reasonable. They boast about their Home Made bread and charge $3 for three slices and a thin pad of butter. It was not warmed; served at room temp , and we found it as nothing special. We ordered a Special, which was fried chicken. It came with one slice of bread, soup which was delicious, Cole slaw , mashed potatoes and gravy. Also, a cheese burger and a Huckleberry Bleu salad with chicken which was basically a (iceberg) wedge salad. It was plenty of salad and the chicken was nicely grilled.Their milkshake machine was broken and disappointing. The peach crumble desert was served warm and it was the best part of our meal. We ordered it with ice cream and that’s as close as we got to his milkshake. All in all it was good to fill you up but not the highest quality food.

We did not camp but are at the restaurant which was fabulous! I had the Huckleberry BBQ pork! Served with coleslaw, mash potatoes and beef barley soup this meal was not only filling but delicious!! Fast friendly service and great food make this hidden gem a must visit for lunch or dinner after visiting Glacier National Park (St. Mary)!Food & drinks: We ate at the restaurant and didn not stay in the RV park.
