The Saint Mary Visitor Center is the first major stop from the east entrance of the Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park. It is a big and wonderful visitor center, highly recommended and totally worth the stop. The center provides lots of information, with a small display on park history and Native American history in the area. There is a good 15-minute informational video about the park shown every 30 minutes in an auditorium. Knowledgeable park rangers are on duty to answer questions and sell any required permits. The center features a decent gift shop with items like shirts, stickers, and patches. Amenities include washrooms, though they are noted as small for the crowds, with additional portable restrooms nearby. A key practical feature is cell phone reception and wifi. The center also serves as a shuttle stop, with early morning departures to Logan Pass for hikers. Parking is described as ample with a large lot, but it fills up during busy times and is considered more sparse than it should be, a common challenge in the park. The location offers many picture spots and is an amazing stop to begin experiencing the unbelievable beauty of Glacier National Park.
