Fast, small, and friendly. Not the largest selection but what they do have works just fine in most cases I thought the prices were fair for the location.

Rosebud Foods, the only game in town for groceries. Tonight I went in and they happened to have packs of ground bison, which they don't often carry. Price marked: $7.99 a pack. Great! Got three. Paid by credit card. Was asked if I wanted a receipt. "No thanks" and walked out. Only when I looked at my credit card app on the phone after I got home (20 miles away) did I realize that I was charged $9.99 a pack. If it had been marked $9.99 at the meat counter, I wouldn't have bought it. Called the store. Learned that, no, they can't refund the credit card and do a new charge. No, they can't print a receipt for any transaction other than the most recent transaction, even if the purchase was made on a credit card. This is the third decade of the 21st century. Rosebud Foods is living somewhere in the last century. Out $6.00 because no one at Rosebud Foods has updated the price in the system to match the marked price at the meat counter. Pathetic.

I've lived in Colstrip since 1980, so I've had plenty of experience shopping at Rosebud Foods. Yes, the prices can be a bit higher, but if you factor in gas and driving to Billings (120 miles) or Miles City (85 miles) to get something (literally) $.08 cheaper, it doesn't make a lot of sense to travel. I do 98% of the shopping for my wife and me, and I note prices. Usually there's no more than 3 or 4 cents difference. Most items are within $.05 the same as in Billings or Miles City. Shopping locally makes much more sense.I've become friendly with many of the employees/managers over the years, and find it a pleasant experience to shop there. It's nice having a manager or stocker or clerk say "Hi Mike! How's your day going?".The only really negative thing I've experienced in the last several years, has been since the store went thru a "reset" in August of 2021. The store was a mess for a week, and the only section that didn't change much was the refrigerated areas. It took a long time, many visits, to learn where the items I normally bought, had gone to. I've been able to get requested items a few days later with the next order, and that mitigates having to drive to get "whatever".They very seldom ask for ID (except for alcohol purchases), they'll take out of state/area checks, they're pleasant to deal with, and they usually have what I need. What more can a local grocery do or be?

I showed up at 7:00 and they were closed an hour early and the manager was severely rudeI'd take the hour or so drive to go somewhere else then spend my money there

A rare shopping experience these days. There are friendly checkers, they bag your groceries, they take you items to your car and load them in while you buckle your kids! I can hardly stand shopping anywhere else.
