We stayed on August. The room is so clean and cozy, and they are very so kind. I left my pants at lodge. They sent it to me kindly. Thank you for help.

Comfortable bed. Didn’t use TV, but nice to have available. Bathroom had hooks galore and pull out drying line in tub. Check in was easy. Manager was very nice and helpful. Owner fixed thermostat immediately when reported. Would have stayed longer, but rooms were sold out. Would definitely return.

-Couple running motel were excellent, but not owners. -cost of motel very high and a $17 surcharge was added to bill for using credit card. - we stayed here many times in the past and there was an outdoor hot tub. It was removed and we could not enjoy this time. Very disappointed. -TV was difficult to operate and was not available at times when we wanted to use it. No instructions on how to use Direct TV remote. -Room was very clean and nice for my wife and I, but not a good value for almost $500 for two night.!!!

Good clean rooms and the location is perfect for visiting Lamar valley as it’s just half an hour away. There is wifi but it can be tricky to connect to and even then slow, but something!

We have stayed multiple times at Elkhorn. Each and every time we’ve stayed, we have been welcomed by owners, stayed in a very nice, spotless room or cabin in an awesome location. We love Cooke City and part of the love is the great time we always have at Elkhorn.

We arrived and were greeted by friendly gentleman who gave us our private code to unlock our room door. Room was spacious, clean, and had been newly renovated to our liking. Beds were clean and tidy , very comfortable, and the room heater worked great. Plenty of hot water for shower. The lodge is convenient and in a very quiet location Our stay was like a step back in time 50 years. It was wonderful and exactly what we needed. The Wi-Fi worked well so we were able to text and call despite NO cell service in the area. I would sure go back, and probably we will next Yellowstone visit. No problem at all and no worries here.

We stayed here for 5 nights and used it as a base for visiting YNP via the north east entrance, which is just 4 miles away. Cooke City (the smallest city in the US) is no more than a staging post for the park with about 100 permanent residents. Saying that it has, for some reason, 3 gas stations, a few small restaurants, a very well stocked and charming general dealer and a few tourist shops. There are lodging options in the park, but these are expensive and, at best, functional. We wanted a place where we could relax and unwind on an evening, and CC has charm in no small measure, and puts you 15 minutes drive from the edge of Lamar Valley. There are several accommodation options in CC, but I’d be surprised if any are better than EHL. The hosts and their staff and welcoming, friendly people who seem genuinely interested in the experiences of their guests. We stayed in a “Cozy Cabin” which is the larger of their options. It had a spacious bedroom with 2 double beds and large flat screen TV, a shower/toilet room and a small kitchen area which had a 2 ring stove, refrigerator, microwave and coffee machine. The options for early breakfasts in CC are limited so the kitchenette allows you to make your own and hit the parks as soon as it is light. The kitchenette is well stocked with crockery and utensils, but if you intend to eat and drink, you need to assume that you’ll need to bring/buy all your own groceries. On arrival we found salt and pepper, and a small amount of coffee left by the last guests, and a few sachets of sugar and whitener. We made omelettes each morning, so brought eggs, ham, cheese and cooking oil with us. The general dealer opposite the lodge carries a surprisingly good range of day to day essentials. It’s hours are 0800-1800. The premises itself is clean. Trash is removed daily and consumables (e.g toilet roll) is restocked. There is outdoor seating and a table directly outside, so guests have the option of eating/drinking outside of the cabin. Wi-Fi was functional and reliable, but not super fast. Uploading photos from your day in the park may take longer than you’re used to. There is no cell phone service in CC. If and when we return to YNP, I think we’ll do the same thing again. We didn’t regret staying outside the park and our choice of EHL we think was a very good one. We very much enjoyed our stay there.

avoid this place at all costs. The manager has mental problems. Hard to say when she wiill go off on you. in addition even though we did not ask for a refund when we had to cancel our trip . They charged our credit card an additional $40 on top of keeping all our payments.

The Elk Horn Lodge is located on Main Street in Cooke City, convenient to all of the shops and eateries in this small town. The four of us stayed in two of the Elk Horn's small cabins. The cabins were clean and just the right size for two people. They were well equipped for cooking (although we didn't cook). We enjoyed sitting outside in the evening and watching the sunset. The staff of the Elk Horn were very friendly; check in and check out was a breeze. This was our second time staying there - our favorite place in Cooke City.

We stayed here for 5 nights in June 2023. In cabin 1. 4 adult women and 1 baby. The cabin had everything we needed, was clean, beds very comfortable. The town is awesome, everyone is so friendly. None of us wanted to leave! Highly recommend Elk Horn Lodge!Food & drinks: The town is small enough that you can walk to the stores and places to eat.

Great location and host was great too. She gave us perfect directions and they did come in handy because we didn't have the mobile network. The room had all the bells and whistles. A shower head in the bathroom can be better.

If you are looking for a place that is truly representative of the Montana area, Elk Horn Lodge is a great place to stay. We stayed in one of the cabins which were so cute and it was very rewarding to walk out of the cabin to see the mountains so close by. The bedroom/living area was large and comfortable, the beds were terrific, the bath and kitchen were very compact but contained everything needed for a great visit. One of the things most important to us as we are an older couple is grab bars in the bathroom, something most chain hotels don't have, but Elk Horn did! We didn't spend a whole lot of time in our room as Cooke City is only a couple miles away from the Northeast entrance to Yellowstone but when we were in the room, the Wifi worked great. We toured the entire Yellowstone park and the Northeast entrance is the one where you will see the most wildlife. Although the other entrances had more interesting land features, we did see a mama grizzly with two cubs in the southern section. Also, don't be scared off worrying about food while you are in Cooke City. There are two general stores which carry limited groceries and there are several restaurants. Warning!!! If you go into the Cooke City General Store, the milk is in the case marked Dairy next to the refrigerators. Apparently, this dairy case is usually missed by visitors (including us) and the employees have a good time ribbing those who don't see it. One of the advantages of this small homey lodge is that the owners are often onsite and it worked to our advantage that they were able to steer us to the location of a grizzly bear which they had passed on their way into town. We were able to safely watch the bear from a safe distance. They also informed us of a litter of baby foxes born under one of the town buildings. From the time we were cheerily greeted by Carol who registered us into the cabin till we left, we enjoyed every minute of our stay.
