Another amazing dinosaur museum! This museum, though tiny, boasts a cast of Wyrex the T-Rex that greets you when you first walk into the museum section. Not behind anything, you can get up close and personal to grasp its sheer size. They had a great variety of fossils and animals all with plaques full of information. Not many museums give me that feeling of being absolutely puny next to these things, but this one did and it was awesome. They also have non-dinosaur fossils and casts which is always fun to learn about in addition. They even had a stuffed wolf, that admittedly, I thought was a recreation of a Dire Wolf until I read the info and learned it was from this century!! Whew! And don't get me started on the gift shop which I'm always a sucker for. They had great t-shirts and so many dinosaur figures, including a more accurate version of a Spinosaurus!

Such a surprise . This museum is fascinating with so much history and the displays are wonderfully put together. It's hard to believe this little town of Ekalaka Montana has such a wonderful museum. Well worth the visit. We spent hours there. Can't remember if we paid to go through the exhibits, but whatever it cost, it's well worth it.

The Carter County Museum is amazing from the Native American artifacts to the pioneer & cowboy memorabilia to the world class dinosaurs! Dr. Carroll is a true resource. His endless knowledge of the area covers all topics from this corner of Montana. His deep knowledge of paleontology and the dinosaurs found here is particularly fascinating. This is certainly worth an extra day to visit.

Imagine a town of 290 people in what is arguably in the middle of nowhere in eastern Montana and discovering an outstanding museum. Here it is! The Carter County Museum has an impressive collection of historical artifacts, dinosaurs and and local objects that will keep you fascinated. The staff is friendly and the museum is free.We stopped here taking the scenic route from Roosevelt NP to Devil's Tower, but it is well worth a side trip if you're in the area. The Midway Motel is close by and the excellent Wagon Wheel Cafe is right across the way. Add this to your road trip plans.

This is a surprisingly nice museum in a very small town. It has a large area filled with dinosaur displays as well as the history of the West and the town it's self.

Great free museum so leave a donation. Dinosaur exhibition was quite impressive for being free. I recommend and bring a picnic lunch. When done with museum drive north toward baker and stop a medicine rock. Great jurassic formation and room to explore or relax. The kids will love it!

My students had a great time and couldn't stop talking about what they learned. Our guides were knowledgeable and you could see their joy in sharing their knowledge with the kids. I would highly recommend Carter County Museum! ❤

Super wonderful fossil and geologic displays. Walked around the t-rex and taxidermist displays multiple times and saw something different each pass! 9year old also liked seeing the old guns and bullet types. One room of Native American weapons and crafts included atlatl and arrowheads. Great staff too!
