I realized today after an emergency appointment at Two Rivers with one of my kids. First, they only charged $20.00 for an emergency appointment rather than the $100.00 that big sky charges. The second, big sky has forgotten that the pet parent pays for the service & when you are rude and disrespectful to a pet parent, you no longer get the business. Big sky should be put out of business just for these two reasons.

BAD SERVICE! I got my dog cremated here and they told us they would notify us when our dog was done and they just kept her over a week of being finished and told us nothing until we had to take action because it felt too long to be waiting.

I've always been treated with respect and my pets have been cared for diligently and professionally by all the staff. Everyone always does an excellent job! When I've had emergencies, I've had excellent care and communication. When I've had the misfortune of losing pets the compassion I've received has been heartfelt and genuine. As a former vet tech I have very high expectations when it comes to veterinary care. My personal veterinarian, Dr. Richardson, has gone above and beyond for me so many times I cannot even count. The other vets there are also also extremely excellent. Dr. Harmon, Dr. Adcock, and Dr. Sherr have all been extremely kind to me. So I thoroughly endorse Big sky to care for my pets and other people's pets as well.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS TO Big sky animal Big Sky Animal Medical Center in Great Falls, MT! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE IN AN EMERGENCY. OR EVER. Took my 4 year old dog during Emergency hours. Initially I signed a DNR upon arrival due to his medical history but after we spoke with the vet and got some of his lab work back I decided to change and remove the DNR paperwork when they had me sign to admit him for overnight hospitalization. The vet then waited 3 hours after he died to call me and notify me that he went into cardiac arrest. That big of a delay meant that by time I got to go say bye and see him that rigor mortis had already set in and made it even harder for me see him. The admitting Vet told me that she did not do CPR because she didn't have an IV in place to give medication and that the clinic did not have other means to administer life resuscitation medications other than IV. I picked up his paper work today that clearly shows I choose that in case of emergency they were to perform CPR but in the vets notes she said he went into cardiac arrest and did not perform CPR because he had a DNR on file. Spoke with the managing vet today and was told it's a problem with their system that had a delay in updating the DNR status. You expect the only Vet ER in town would have a flawless system for emergency's. Also the vet we saw lied because the managing vet told me that they do have other ways of administering resuscitation medications and the emergency vet on call was just not aware. WHY IS SHE THE ONLY VET ON STAFF AT AN ER IF SHE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO DO THESE EMERGENCY TASK LET ALONE AWARE THEY ARE AVAILABLE THERE? My dog may not have survived even with CPR but this clinic took that chance away from him entirely! They knew their system had a delay in updating changed DNR status yet failed to verify his status the second he was left in their care leading to them not attempting due to a "computer or paperwork error". This is unacceptable something as important as a DNR status she not have a delay in updating in their system. This clinic should not legally be allowed to provide emergency services at the very least! Save your pet and make the drive to another city if you need an emergency veterinarian!!!

I will never go back! I couldn't get my dog into his regular vet so I went here and thought it would be a quick in & out visit. Even left my disabled nephew in the car. I waited a full half an hour just to get back to a room. I just wanted some labs run to make sure my little guy wasn't ailing from something serious because he had lost a couple pounds. The vet looked in his ears and listened to his heart and charged me $170 for that. Then another $161 for the labs for a grand total of $331 dollars! Thankfully, the vet did call me with the results which were that he is fine but are you kidding me?!? That's an outrageous amount of money and more than running labs for a human being. I hope you have plenty of funds when you visit this vet.

Unfortunately I had to take my 20 yr old baby girl Phoebe in due to her not being able to keep anything down. She was also having mobility issues. If it wasn't for the non-stop vomiting I would have waited until Monday to take her to our vet. Phoebe was calm and resting in my arms. The vet came in and gave her meds to keep her calm. He then took her in back for a catheter to administer the medicine to help her pass peacefully. I could hear my baby girl screaming. When they brought her back she was already gone. I can't get the sound or the last image of my baby out of my head. All the vet said was they had trouble with putting the catheter in. Not once did he apologize for the incident or for her passing. Also had a guinea pig a few years ago. I took him in for constipation. They dropped him but didn't tell me about it. He died in my arms the next day from a broken back and internal bleeding. We also had two puppies get a hold of aspirin. We were told they wouldn't even see them without money up front. They would have let our pups die that day if we couldn't pay. All this vet hospital cares about is money. $180 just to walk in the door. Thankfully we're in the position to pay. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TAKING THEIR FURBABIES TO THIS VET.

Agree w/ other reviewer: NO STARS. A lost domesticated cat appeared at my door several weeks ago with a large open scalp wound and other fight wounds. I befriended and rendered what 1st Aid I could. It was grateful and started stopping by every evening. Obviously being mild, timid, gentle, it's been targeted by other ferral cats. He came by one recent evening, scalp re-injured & larger, oozing eye infection (one swollen shut, followed later by the other) and other open bleeding wounds. Saw on their website 'Open for Emergencies.' An Answering Service picked up my just after hours call. The answering service said they were not "actually" open for emergencies after regular hours, but on-call. I asked for an emergency visit and he promised a vet would call directly. I told him I was determined to pay for costs. I NEVER rec'd any call of any kind from anyone. I attempted to call the number again and only rec'd an outgoing business hours msg. and no more answering service. You judge...

My yorkie was attacked by a large dog and this crew was incredibly patient, kind, and professional. I got regular phone calls from Dr. Blanford with updates and recommendations. They definitely erred with caution. My little guy is doing well and healing fast!

We took our beloved dog Crash to Dr. Rick Scherr in Great Falls for a CT scan of his front legs, given his ever-worsening limp. At a year and a half old, he walks like an old man dog. Dr. Scherr took the time to carefully review and explain all of the results with us. Crash is the coolest dog we have ever met, and pets are family. Surgery TBD, but the doc travels all over Montana every week to take care of all its creatures, and he visits Kalispell every Thursday, so we will follow up with him back home. The office staff are ridiculously friendly, the office is clean as a whistle, and our bill ended up being about a third less than we anticipated. Thank you!!!

Have needed help for a couple of different issues for our dog when we travel to the Great Falls area. We have very high standards of service for our pet based on the great job our vet does at home. We are very happy and impressed with Big Sky Animal Center. They got us in on a timely basis. The people at the reception desk meet you with a smile and checked us in quickly. They were sensitive to the number of dogs in the waiting area so were nice enough to put us over in another part of their waiting area that was less crowded. Our appointment started on time even with them being fairly busy. The vet tech came out and greeted us with a smile and led us back to an examination room. She was very professional, good job asking questions and good with our dog. The doctor then came in with no wait in the transition between the tech and her. I can't say enough about how much we like Dr Michelle Richardson at the clinic. Really good with our dog, asked great questions, diagnosed the issue and we left with a solution in hand. Our dog within 12 hours was noticeably better and on the road to complete recover. Highly recommend this clinic, you will be in good hands.

Ok I'm going to give it to you straight people!! If you take your loved animal to this place you DONT DESERVE TO HAVE A DOG!! We took or 8yr old Lab to Dr. Jani Zirbel on a Sunday afternoon because his tummy was hard. He was somehow getting fluid in this tummy. She said he HAD to stay there overnight. Mind you my dog WALKED into this place and was playing just 10 minutes before we took him there. I called at 8:30 and she said he was resting comfortably and that they were getting ready to take him out to pee. Ok so at 8:30pm Kody was still able to get on his feet...so we thought! LIE #1 She told us if he took a turn for the worse she would call. LIE #2. I slept with my phone in my hand and no call from this so called vet. Monday morning she called and told us we needed to take him to Missoula 3 hours away to get an ultrasound, and the doctor there could do exploratory surgery to find out what's going on. Thinking he was at the very least able to walk because she never called during the night to tell us he had took a turn for the worse. When I get there to pick him up he was on a flippen STRETCHER!!! Kody couldn't even pick his head up. The techs told me he was sedated, he wasn't sedated at all. LIE #3. She had volume overloaded him with plasma!!! How the hell did that happen, if he was doing bad after the first dose of plasma WHO THE HELL gives 2 more doses!! OMG...On top of all this his right lung was collapsed and he could barley breath on his own. I had no idea what was going on until I got him to the other doctor for the ultrasound. Dr. Jani Zirbel Knew we were going to have to put him to sleep and she WALKED away from him, made him suffer for 3 hours in a car and another hour at the vet, IF she would have been straight with us our puppy would not have suffered!! There is a special place in hell for people like this!!!! Don't let this so called vet touch your dog!!! If you love your puppy find another place to go!! Always error on the side of caution because there are vets like her that just don't care. We thought she was going to help him....instead she killed him.

My first visit, I brought my cat in on a recommendation from my original vet. The original vet had attempted to set both of my cat's back femurs. the rods and wires that were put in collapsed, and the vet said he was out of his depth as the collapse had caused further damage. Enter BigSky. the first visit was alright with Dr. Richardson, although she and the other vets said it looked grim, they wanted Dr. Shearer to take a look. I was sent home with my cat and pain med to wait 2 days for Dr. Shearer to be back. On that day I called the clinic and Dr wasn't available, gave message. 4 hours later, I called again after no word. Dr. Shearer was unavailable and leaving for the weekend, I was to wait until Monday. (2 MORE DAYS) On Monday, after waiting until 11am with no call still, I called the clinic again, Dr was unavailable, left message and expressed my frustration. When Dr. Shearer FINALLY called me, he began by saying the reason I wasn't called was because my cat was not his case, offered no apology, only an excuse of being busy. I told him that I had contacted yet another vet and would be picking up my files and many EXPENSIVE (over $300) xrays to bring to the new vet. At that time, Dr. Shearer told me that was fine because there was nothing he was able or willing to do anyways (having never actually met my cat). I was horrified by his opinion. Partially because I had been waiting SIX DAYS to hear that he had no intention of helping me and had let me sit in horrible anxiety that whole time (and I have horrible anxiety, depression, etc..... this is a therapy cat) Disappointed, offended, sad, and enraged.
