The Newberry is a venue for concerts and events, described as an amazing and favorite place to play by performers who feel treated as equals by the fantastic, friendly, helpful, and attentive staff. It hosts a variety of shows, from major label acts to bands in a small, intimate setting that some call a "hole in the wall" venue. The crowd, sound, and experience are often called absolutely awesome. The stage lighting is dynamic and visually engaging, and the merch area is well-lit. The bar offers a decent drink selection, and the staff receives consistent praise for being responsive and on top of everything, making it a recommended spot for private events. However, some note that the sound can be terrible, making it hard to understand the music, and the venue can become quite warm when the AC is insufficient. The general floor lighting can also feel overly bright. Despite these cons, many find it a pretty good place and plan to return.

Kudos to The Newberry for booking Mark Mackay's Christmas Tour show on Dec. 9. Virtuosic guitar, strong vocals, tight rocking band, and terrific arrangements of classic and newer songs. Add to that The Newberry's great staff and venue space, and it was a wonderful evening.
