I originally came in time get a pair of shoe strings on 9/1/23. I asked Lilly for help. My girlfriend and I ended up looking for new shoes. We ran poor Lilly to death, back and forth probably a dozen times, getting us sizes and styles. She never stopped smiling or giving imput and suggestions. All of this while being completely professional. I have been in retail at all levels for 20 years, and Lilly is the person I wish all my employees would emulate. Whatever you are paying her, it's not enough. She is the gold standard.

Before the buyout, my husband and I would buy something every single time we were there. They used to be the place we always knew we could find what we wanted and needed. Now, there is no selection and nothing gets restocked. They are not localized to what the people are looking for anymore.

Great place..however I would recommend they stock up on fishing bait and tackle for the summer months. They are always low on stock for the summer months.

Ever since our locally owned Bob Wards was taken over by the Al's Sporting Goods management team out of Utah, the quality of the experience has gone down while the prices, seem to have gone up. It was the end of this years ski season and no where did I find the 30-40-60% off items that usually populate the floor that time of year. And the sales items, downstairs were completely gone as well. I did see a lot of SALE signs upstairs for a lowly 10% off. Big Deal. The floor looks emptier as well w/ probably less selection. The North Face section is gone and today my friend and I went for some tennis shoes and they didn't have her size in the two styles that she liked. The Nike brand has been drastically thinned out and there are some brands that I personally had never heard of. It feels sterile and hollowed out. Too bad, but at least we still have REI up in Zoo town.

2019 fall had an internet order get screwed up and they eventually fixed it after about a month of back and forth. Then went out of my way a few weeks before Xmas of 2020 to stop in at the Butte store and buy a gun they said that they had in inventory. After a 200+ mile route change to get there before they closed that day I arrived and they didn't have it. Their website still showed they had one in stock. The employee went in the back for 2 minutes and was like no we don't have that. They have some serious problems if they can't keep track of FIREARM sales. So today I got an email from this company I've opted out of emails after that last experience as I don't want to do business with losers who can't keep track of FIREARMS inventory and I go to OPT OUT AGAIN! I see they are listing an address in Logan, UTAH! Then I think what happens when kids inherit a family business they have no clue about running because they are spoiled and soft? They sell the business because they need to maintain their lifestyle and the business isn't very or at all profitalbe. Yup Bob Ward's is now owned by Utah Mormons. mtstandard.com/news/loca…They basically left the barely competnent management on and now run things out of UTAH. I'll just stick to actual Montana owned businesses, no thanks.
