I prepaid for a car rental from budget rent a car. I called the company because I found some secret fees that I had not been made aware of. When I talked to customer service, which was an all day experience, they informed me that regardless of what I did have in hand they could deny me based on credit. They needed to do a soft inquiry on my credit. But could not inform me as to what they were looking for. Customer service at a corporate national level. Informed me that the only people that could answer that question were at the desk in the airplane terminal. There is no number to directly speak with the customer service desk in the airport. And when I call the airport security, they tell me That budget does not have a counter in their terminal. The whole reason I went through them was because they were cheap and I could pick them up directly from the airplane terminal. When I speak with customer service this evening They tell me the only thing I can do is cancel my reservation if I did not feel comfortable risking landing three thousand plus miles away from home in order to be denied an item that I had already paid for. I was hung up on numerous times. And when I canceled in the end, They charged me fifty dollars to return my money.I was talked down to and disrespected. The only thing they didn't do was call me stupid. I would rather walk 1500 miles to See my Grieving Family then risk spending one penny with this company! They are rude scammers. And I guarantee this review is on the better business bureau website. I will also be posting this review directly on budget's website.

Booked a car through Costco- the desk attendant said there was no cars available and then went into a back room and never came back out.

I'm not sure if it's gross incompetence or a scam, decide for yourself. I returned a car last night at about 540 pm, 20 min before it was due. No attendenant was present, so I filled out the form per their instructions and dropped it and the keys in the drop box. This morning I get a receipt for twice my company's negotiated rate so I call. The person answer the phone says the car was checked in at 920 pm when the attendenant showed up and they must've just charged me the extra day and it was good I'd called because after 72 hrs, there's nothing they could do to fix it. She'd reverse it and I'd get a new receipt in a few min. 3 hrs goes by so I go back to the counter. The guy says there's nothing he can do but call the 800 # and I say "please call someone who can right now". He calls his GM and bangs away on the keyboard and hands me a receipt about 20% higher than I'm supposed to pay. I ask "what's this?" and he can't answer, says it's what the gm told him. I asked for the GMs number and he asks me to leave because I'm getting "heated". I ask the customer behind me if I'm out if line and he says no...so I give the counter guy my name and number and tell him to have the gm call me. No response. I've got the gas fill up receipt from 515, the time stamped pic of the mileage/full tank from the return lot at 520 and my receipt leaving the parking lot at 550. Call has been made to the CC company to not pay the charges, next one is to the BBB in the morning. Highly suggest you rent from somewhere else...as this isn't the first issue I've had with them. Usually missing gas in the cars.

Employee named Bucky tried to convince us that the car we got was AWD/4x4, and it wasn’t. I asked her over and over. Sure enough, her coworker confirms it in fact was not. We paid for an SUV and got a front wheel drive sedan that got stuck multiple times, and costs us an SUV rate. Never again.

Had a confirmed reservation for a car, but when I arrived there were no cars available. Called back next day to see if there were any cars available, and girl was very rude! Said “I’m not going to call you, I’m just a car cleaner”. Clearly Budget needs to weed out some people who don’t understand customer service.

Terrible computer system and poorly trained staff. I went online to book a car at Helena Regional Airport. It said the rental office closed at 5p. Our flight came in at 1030p so I booked the car for M-W and prepaid. When we arrived Sunday the rental desk was still open, so we went over and asked if they had car available to add a day to our reservation. They did, so we prepaid the extra day. When we returned the car on Wednesday by before 5p. They charged the main card $5800, and the card we used for the extra day $4300. So back into the desk we go. First they said it was a glitch in the system for returning the car after 5. A $10,000 late fee when we weren't late? Oh no, they realized they charged us for over 20,000 miles whenweonly drove 300. We told them again and again we had prepaid and shouldn't owe anything. This morning my card was charged for the full rental . When I called customer service the people at the counter had made a whole new reservation to fix it. Of course the can't reverse the charge for a week, and that CS continued to say I booked it twice.

Rude and not helpful at all. My 27 yr old son had a prepaid reservation for a car and the manager (blond long haired guy) refused to rent it to him. My son had even went in a week prior to make sure everything was done and if there was anything else he needed to do at the time of the rental reservation and was told there wasn’t anything else. The day of rental the manager wanted his debit card to pay for an undisclosed deposit amount. When he ran the card, there wasn’t enough money in his account. So I put money in his account to cover it and the manager refused to run his card again. The manager then refused to rent him a car. So I had to go into the rental place and use my credit card to pay for the $250 deposit(had to be a credit card and not a debit card). I have rented cars in the past with no problems. We will never rent a car from Budget in Helena, MT again. The car also had several scratches and dents and trash on the floor that weren’t mentioned when we got it.I just checked my credit card and they charged me twice for the $250 deposit!

The person helping us was friendly and even though the car we were supposed to have was not sent to him he did his best to accommodate us. However, the car we drove from the moment we left said service needed which made me uncomfortable and the front end of the car felt like it had a bairing getting ready to go out. Not exactly safe feeling when you are driving around very curvey roads in the mountains. But all went well.

I rented a car from the Helena budget rental car at the beginning of April 2021 this year that is the date my nightmare started and has still not finished it is now July 2021 and I am actively still trying to fight a $5000 charge off they are putting on me and try putting on my credit card for a typo on their end where they claim allegedly that I put 20000 miles on a car in 2 days 1st of all that's physically impossible Secondly they keep claiming that they fixed it but then next thing I know I'm getting a statement from my credit card company again and I will get a statement for budget customer service in the mail saying they Are coming after me for 5000 in collections 1st of all how can you do both secondly why have you still not rioted you're wrong as an entire company you're sleazy and disgusting I am hiring an attorney at this point as I have no further options and I am just going to Sue

Working with Silas (the long-haired local guy) at Budget was one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had. Fun, funny, good tips on local things to do, and made renting a car - typically a hassle - a great experience.
