We went to the Huntley Threshing Bee at the museum. It is a really cool event to visit. They steam fresh corn on the cob in a steam engine, make bread and corn bread from fresh ground corn and wheat, make ice cream with a steam engine turning it and butter. Plus run a blacksmith shop and sawmill all with steam engines. An awesome back in time experience.

What an amazing place. It far exceeded my expectations and was incredible fun. They offer a scavenger hunt. It's probably aimed at kids but we loved it. It provided a little extra motivation to look at everything in every building. And there are over 20 buildings. They are not carefully curated and researched items; they are different collections of the everyday objects people used in the past. And Midnight, the cat, is a charmer. If you're looking for fine art or well documented historical artifacts, this isn't for you. If you're looking for hands-on (mostly) exhibits that show what real life was like, this can't be beat. It's free, but I donated because they earned it.

I’ve never heard of this place and just happened to be running out of gas from leaving Pompey’s pillar when we drove past it. I’m so happy we stopped! The gentleman that was there (I didn’t catch his name) was so kind and mentioned that there’s a scavenger hunt they do, my kids were excited. The history in this place was amazing and attention to detail was to die for! We need more places like this around the country, teaching awesome history. The cute little black cat followed us around, she’s adorable. If you have time, stop and enjoy this place. You won’t regret it at all.

This museum is wonderful. Myself and my kids loved looking at all the artifacts. Pictures, actual memorabilia, and details about the specific things. My kids also really enjoyed going into the different buildings like the general store, schoolhouse and homestead to get a feel of what things were like back then.

Great museum about the history of the area in the early 1900s. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff is great. Well worth stopping at if you are passing through the area.
