Just to start out, I wasn't actually a "guest" staying at Elk Lake Resort, but we were camping nearby and decided to pop in for a quick look around. What we found were some amazing people who were extremely welcoming and pleasant to be around. We ended up buying a few drinks and chatting for a few hours, then returning the next day for lunch and another good visit. This is a great get-a-way spot with people that make the experience well worth it. Thanks all for the great times, and we do hope to see you again in the future.

My sister and I tried to check this place out with my dog. However, before we could even come near the place, there was a dog off-leash on the patio that came up to us and tried to attack my dog, and I ended up falling on my elbow, trying to protect my dog. Meanwhile, the whole time this happens, there were people on the porch who did nothing or asked if everything was okay, and the people inside just looked out the window. Not even the owners or any staff come out to see what was going on. Absolutely unacceptable! If you like people with an aggressive dog and the absolute worst patrons and staff this might be the place for you. Otherwise, there is a campsite not even 1/4 th of a mile from this place with equally as epic views as the lodge and you don’t have to worry about coming across rude people and a viscous dog.

Elk Lake Resort was a breath of fresh air. We enjoyed the serenity, the gorgeous vistas, the lakes and streams, our cabin, and the delicious meals prepared every day by our gracious hosts, Laurel, Jake, and Chris. We spent much of our time exploring nearby Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. Although we didn’t fish on this trip, we received glowing daily reports about the fishing from the other guests. We’ll be back!—Kathy and Steven T. Callan

If you're looking for a quiet, beautiful serene get away with no tv, radio, cell service or internet, this is the place for you! We stayed in a rustic, clean, cabin with a comfortable bed and a shower with plenty of hot water. Jake and Laurel Delong, the owners of this piece of heaven, are incredible hosts, along with Chris who served our meals with her beautiful smile! Jake kept us in stitches with his humor and quick wit as we sat on the stools in the bar waiting for dinner. Laurel is an amazing cook! All meals are homemade, from the soup to the entrees to the incredible desserts, which even included homemade ice cream! The breakfasts are equally as delicious with a hot entree, homemade pastries and fresh fruit. No hotel we've stayed at has food like the food served at Elk Lake Resort! This was a wonderful experience, and we look forward to another visit to this hidden gem in our beautiful Montana! Thank you Jake, Laurel and Chris!

This place is truly a hidden gem! Well worth the drive in where you can spot wild life, drive past through valleys and wide open fields past the Centennial Moutain Range and fish, kayak and canoe on Elk Lake. The food is home made delicious and the rooms are impeccably cleaned.

Rude people. I know it is angry August but you people need to get a clue on how to handle customers better.

We were originally going to book a cabin at this lodge, however they charged a 25% fee for all debit/credit transactions. When I gave the husband the card number over the phone, I asked him if there was any other way to pay, since 25% charge on top of the cost for lodging was pretty steep. He said I could send them a check, so I told him to not charge my card so that I could send them payment the other way. Low and behold, he ended up charging my card anyway. ?They need to do better in finding other alternatives to accept payment.

Super location and food and service. Have recommended to many friends looking for a great "getaway" semi off the grid.

First thing when the nights are in the 30s and there is no heat in the cabin it makes for a less than enjoyable stay. The comment about taking easy on the linen wasn't really called for, but I obligedand with no heat was violently shaking between the time of getting out of the shower before i could get in to the bed. The cinnamon rolls was the best of the food there, the rest was extremely under seasoned.
