If you live in Montana, there is a FIB branch or office close by. Their customer service is quite good when you enter the branch and discuss business with employees. However, we live in a time where the vast majority of people prefer to complete all transactions online. This is where First Interstate goes from a five star bank to a one star bank. Their online service is ridiculous at best. It is not user friendly and very restrictive on what they allow you to do. For example, if you have a mortgage with them, you cannot pay principal only on any payments or make additional principal payments. It also takes 3-4 days for payments to post even you pay from your internal account. This bank is more about squeezing money out of you then they are concerned about efficiency and serving their customers. I suggest you go somewhere else that supports their customers. FIB needs to invest in online services and quit trying to ring every cent out of their customers.

My credit is the worst it's ever been so finding even a Secured Card was difficult for me but I was approved for the First Interstate's Secured MasterCard. They did do a hard pull (Equifax) just to confirm my info, but I had some fraud so I reported it to them and they closed that account and issued a new account, BUT, it's been OVER a month and I still have not received my card ! Their website (no App available) is horrible about updating. I also made two payments IN one of their locations (Lynnwood, WA) and after two weeks I had to go into their office and show them the receipts and then those two cash payments showed up. *If you make any kind of cash payment ALWAYS keep the receipt until it posts. Had I not have kept the two receipts I would have been out $1050 !! Also, when I called their customer service center in Montana, they were just plain rude and it was like I was bother them instead of treating me like a customer. I would only recommend them if you have no other option

Oh boy! Customer service is a joke! I tried to wire money to pay off my house one hour before noon and nobody knew how to send a wire transfer (19th location) after sitting in the lobby for a half hour or more Jennifer said she could do it. She had no clue how to do it and I watched her fumble around for another half hour until another employee arrived to show her how to do her job. Stay away from this bank! It is amateur hour here and it will cost you a lot of wasted time!

WORST INTERSTATE BANK DO NOT BANK HERE!!! This is by far the worst bank in the Valley. Online banking does not work at all! There ATM will not take cash deposits. They told me it was scheduled to be repaired, that was 4 weeks ago! I deposited by payroll check on Friday, and they told me my funds would not be available until Wednesday! I tried to cash a check that was a gift from family, they could only give me $20 on a check for $125.00! Ridiculous! I'm shopping for a new bank, and so should you!!!

This is a horrid bank. FIB (a good name) bought my old bank. I was told everything would be the same, nothing would change. They reject my social security direct deposit and my 401K direct deposit. Then they charged me 9.00 because for one day - ONE DAY my balance dipped below 500.00. It dipped below that amount because they rejected my social security and 401K. Of course I am closing this account, I am not going to put up with this and neither should anyone else.
