Travelers' Rest State Park is a National Historic Landmark and the only archeologically confirmed Lewis and Clark campsite in the nation. The site has a great visitor center and museum with artefacts and a then&now section. It is open year-round with interpreters. The park offers great free programs for kids and adults alike to learn and spend time outdoors. It is a short walk around the historic site. The grounds are nice for all, with plenty of picnic tables and open spaces for picnics. The park is very dog friendly, requiring leashes. Restrooms are available on site. The receptionists are friendly and helpful, making it well worth a visit.
