I usually go to them for graphic novels because they have one of the best selections in town. I have purchased some of my favorite books through them so thank you! “I am a little salty after my visit yesterday, and I wish there was a way to rate the sports and Pokémon differently. I will keep this as short as possible, but there a lot to unpack.

I was in town (from 3+ hours away) to pickup my son who just finished his freshman year at UM and wanted to stop by Zootown as I previously purchased from there a year ago. Everyone in the store was friendly and helpful except for the Pokémon manager. Which is primarily what I was there for. We were in the store for 30-45 minutes and received help from and spoke with multiple times the other people in the store. The Pokémon manager didn't move once, was standing on the other side of the main counter (I assume to be able to watch the television), because that was pretty much all he seemed to be doing.

Long story short. I finally made a decision and offered to buy 3 cards (Mega Charizard gold hyper rare from Phantasmal Flames/$400, a bulbasaur/$20, and an item card/$2) for a total of $422. As all of the cards in his case seemed to be stickered 5-10% over TCG market, I figured there would be no issue offering $400 cash and making a deal. I buy and sell a lot and this is common practice especially when one is talking about 5% while avoiding swipe fees and receiving cash in hand. Anyway, I pulled out 4 $100 bills and the lady (very nice and helpful) turns to him and asks if he will take it. He scoffs/laughs and says no, but I will do $420. Wow, thanks, $2 off on a $400+ deal? Either he overpayed tremendously on the Charizard to begin with or doesn't understand how to conduct business. I don't think I am wrong on this. I have conducted 10s of thousands in transactions over the years and never had an interaction quite like this.

The end just felt dismissive and aloof as if I had lowballed him. Please don't take my word for it though Go by and see if there is something for you. 151 booster packs are stickered for $50 apiece (market is $28).”
