About Muchwater Recreation Area
Muchwater Recreation Area is a primitive campground with nice flat campsites nestled in the forest, offering great views of the river and mountains. It is a peaceful and quiet place with beautiful scenery, providing a great disconnect from the world as there is no cell service. The sites are well spaced out, offering a decent amount of privacy, and are big enough for campers and RVs. The campground features primitive permanent outhouses and fire rings, with reviewers consistently noting the vault toilets are very clean. A distinctive feature is the industrial train that passes by multiple times during the day, which some find adds to the experience; it is generally not noticed at night. This free, dog-friendly site allows camping for up to 16 days and is a spot many hope to visit again.

It's a great free campground. Water access is more difficult than peninsula, but it's a big area. The train woke us up on one of our trip, but we've enjoyed staying here.

Absolutely gorgeous campsites along side river and are very spacious… few sites can accommodate big rigs … it’s free to stay … 16 days limit and has vault toilets …

I had a great spot right on the water, super chill site, with springtime was only a handful of others.
